NASB | 1 Corinthians 12:13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 12:13 For by one [Holy] Spirit we were all baptized into one body, [spiritually transformed--united together] whether Jews or Greeks (Gentiles), slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one [Holy] Spirit [since the same Holy Spirit fills each life]. Bible Question:
Matthew 3:11 says, "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:" The baptism of the Holy Ghost and the indwelling of the Holy Ghost appear to be two different events that a true believer experiences. Can anyone explain? (Please, no theological references, only respond with what the Holy Ghost, Himself, has revealed - John 14:26) Thanks in advance, WalkingTalkingBible |
Bible Answer: WTB, It is clear from scripture that ALL believers are baptized by the Holy Spirit upon salvation, Eph. 1:13, 1 Cor. 12:13. I do not believe there is any warrant for a "second" filling. I am complete in Him according to Col. 2:10. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
