Subject: The Suffering of the Church |
Bible Note: Greetings, I find it very hard trying to understand, from your point of view, that God has actually called us His children to evil. 1 Peter 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: The words in the English, “For even hereunto” are translated from one preposition in the Koine Greek and it is the word, EIS, which is a primary preposition of purpose. It is God’s “purpose” that we should suffer and using your form of exegesis it would be God’s purpose to call us for an evil purpose as well as that of Christ Himself. “ When scripture contradicts scripture we don’t have truth and when we find verses in opposition to our assumptions, scripture stands in judgment of us we don’t stand in judgment of it!” (R.A. Tozer) 1 Peter 5:5 (B) and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. CDBJ |
