Subject: Is Mt 28:18 commanding water baptism? |
Bible Note: Hi Searcher56, I am sorry that I misunderstood you. However, I still do not understand you for I see no "receive" or "administer" in Matthew 28:18-20. As for a sequence in the passage, it seems to be a process where disciples are made by washing them in the word of the triune God and teaching them to follow the commandments of Jesus which leads them to do good deeds. If you were talking about the "receive" in Acts 2:38, I do not see that as meaning administer. Verse 41 says that those who had received his word were baptized; in other words that had received the gift of the *holy *spirit. That is how I see it. I do not see water baptism in 1 Corinthians 1:13, especially when Paul says that he wasn't sent to baptize but to preach the gospel and "the word of the cross". That sounds to me like a washing by the blood of Christ shed on the cross. From the heart, Ray |
