AMPLIFIED 2015 | Acts 2:38 And Peter said to them, "Repent [change your old way of thinking, turn from your sinful ways, accept and follow Jesus as the Messiah] and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ because of the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. |
Subject: Is this about water baptism at all? |
Bible Note: Hi justme, To be honest, I did not expect to be agreed with; but I am pleased. 1) John's baptism was with water; Jesus baptized with the *holy *spirit. 2) The whole chapter talks about the gift or promise that the Holy Spirit would give. He has poured forth this which you see and hear. Acts 2:17, "'And it shall be in the last days', God says, 'that I will pour forth of **My *spirit upon all mankind;...'" 3) Acts 2:39, "For the promise is for you and your children, and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God shall call to **Himself." 4) Ephesians 2:13-15, "But now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of (Christ). For He Himself is our peace,...by abolishing in His flesh the enmity,...that in Himself **He might make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace, and might reconcile them both in one body to God/ through the cross, by it having put to death the enmity." 5) Ephesians 5:25, "...Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her; that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that He might present to **Himself the church in all her glory,..." 6) Titus 3:7, "that being justified by **His grace we might be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life." 7) Colossians 2:13, "And when you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, **He made you alive together with Him/, having forgiven us all our transgressions."
