Subject: When does the Baptism occur? |
Bible Note: Hi CDBJ, I want to give you my interpretations of the verses you talked of, for I do not believe as you for Matthew 3:11. As in other verses that I have referenced, I leave the words in lower case so that there is no contrast or confusion. I would render Matthew 3:11, "...He will baptize you with the holy spirit and with fire." I don't see Jesus judging anyone while here on earth. I can see the future danger of the fire of hell but we know also that fire is associated with the filling of the holy spirit. Acts 2:1-4, "And when the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent, rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the holy spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance." I believe that you can see the gift that is the holy spirit and the Person which is the [Holy] Spirit in this verse,Acts 2:4. From the heart, Ray |
