Bible Question:
YOu said preaching healings miracles etc is not preaching Christ. What do you say is preaching Christ then? And no Hagin is not the 'granddaddy' of the faith movement. Jesus Christ is. He is the one who said if you say unto this mountain be thou removed and be thou cast into the sea and shall not doubt in your heart but believe those things you say shall come to pass you shall have whatsoever you say. ( Mark 11:23 ) Jesus is the one who said that whatever we give up for his sake and for hte gospels sake in this life, we shall receive a hundredfold return in this present life ( Yes that does mean 100 return on money invested as well as everything else you sacrifice for his sake and for the gospels sake because ) and we do recieve the 100 fold return in this present life and life everlasting in the one to come ( Mar 10:29 - 30 ) So please tell me, what do you consider is preaching Christ? God Bless, Mitch |
Bible Answer: Hi Mitch, I simply have to disagree, my friend, I already stated what preaching Christ is! I don't intend to be condescending when I suggest you go back and read the first chapters of Ephesians or Colossians- the pinnacle of Biblical revelation as far as the believer is concerned. Look at all Christ has done for us and given us and the exalted position we are placed into by being IN CHRIST (en Christo)! It is not of ourselves. Case in point: Eph. 1:3 states that "we have been blessed with all the SPIRITUAL blessings, IN CHRIST!" Notice it says all and further notice it is conditioned upon us being in Christ! It's focus is on what Christ has already done for us! The blessing and focus of the believers walk is spiritual, Mitch. By contrast, the message of Hagin et al is one of man-centered and is material and fleshly in nature. The name-it-and-claim-it WOF makes God subservient to us and He becomes nothing more than a glorified vending machine! He is there to soley "give us stuff"! Do you see the contrast? (the hundred-fold return is all about me and what I can get from God. It also ignores the CONTEXT entirely!) Ask yourself the question posed by satan to God in Job 1:9. The height of audacity and blasphemy can be found in Hagins' "How To Write Your Own Ticket With God"?! This is man-centered to the core and has nothing to do with glorifying the Lord Jesus Christ and making Him preeminent in our lives. It's about getting what I want! Does this make sense? Hagins roots are found in Gnosticism and E.W Kenyon. Check it out. Might I suggest you read the book "The Agony of Deceit" by Michael Horton for starters. It documents well the un-Biblical foundations of Hagin and his crowd. If we seek Christ and Him alone, do we need anything else? Mitch, have you personally seen any mountains moved? If not, why?
