Bible Question:
Greetings brother, It has always been my understanding that when we are saved that at time we recieved the Holy Spirit. This being true why would we need additinal fillings? In Christ, lionheart |
Bible Answer: Hi Lionheart, I don't know why God has chosen to do things the way He has, but this is what He has said: Ephesian 5:18 And stop getting drunk with wine, in which is reckless behavior, _but_ continue being filled with [the] Spirit, - this is from the "analytical-literal" translation on e-sword - the point is that the filling of the Spirit is not just a one-time event, but a continuing filling - "be filled, and continue to be filled". To again quote Acts 4:31 "And when they had prayed, the place in which they were assembled was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they continued to speak the Word of God with freedom and boldness and courage." This happened to Peter and John who we know were already filled with and baptized in the Holy Spirit. This was a fresh filling. Why? I don't know. But I know I need His power in my life, and if this is how it comes, I'm ready and willing! God bless you brother! Love in Christ, Mark |
