Bible Note: Greetings, You will find that on this forum that we are a different breed of cat, as it were, you must prove any and everything to us with Scripture in order to establish true doctrine! Psalm 119:160 The sum of thy word is truth; And every one of thy righteous ordinances endureth for ever. The body is the only thing that sleeps, the soul doesn’t get tired. The body only needs rest, not the soul or spirit. Do you suppose that the spirit and soul of Jesus got tired in this situation? John 4:6 and Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour. The soul will go on forever and doesn’t need sleep! When the Bible refers to sleep, as at death or in the Greek, THANATOS, it is a reference to the body, the soul and the spirit continue right on in the conscious state. 1 Cor. 15:51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We all shall not sleep, but we shall all be changed, The we in this verse, spoken of by Paul, is a reference to the souls that have believed and trusted in Jesus for their eternal life. Paul is speaking about some who will be separated from their bodies Jesus at one point also spoke of those who were not only dead or separated in body, but spirit as well, they had no living spirit. Matthew 8:22 But Jesus saith unto him, Follow me; and leave the dead to bury their own dead. Man is dichotomies with a living body and soul until such time as he believes in Christ then he becomes trichotomis with a body soul and spirit. The bodies of all who sleep, as it were, at the point of separation will see a time when their bodies will be brought back to life, either in the first resurrection or the second! All of the future bodies will be incorruptible either with the Lord or going through a process of impossible destruction in the lake of fire! John saw the souls of some believers that hadn’t received their new bodies yet but they were still there at the throne of God. Rev. 6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: Rev. 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
