Bible Question:
Is "Lifting His name" Biblical? Obviously none of these responses have anything to do with my name, since the question was in regards to lifting Jesus' Name. Therefore I hope with the blessing of the forum participants no one will mind if I change this back to it's original query topic line, and I humbly ask if we choose to post to the topic it will start again from this point. Yes, it is just my personal preference, but seeing my name over and over again under so many different circumstances, is beginning to seem derisive. I am sorry please forgive me if this sounds self-serving. Your sister in Christ, -Kathy |
Bible Answer: Psalm 34:3 "O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together." Yes, "Lifting His name" is Biblical. Dictionary.com defines exalt as... "To raise in rank, character, or status; elevate: exalted the shepherd to the rank of grand vizier. To glorify, praise, or honor. To increase the effect or intensity of; heighten: works of art that exalt the imagination." So if you would allow for the bjh paraphrase... "Declare the Lord's greatness together with me and let us lift up His name together." |
