Subject: Grace AND? |
Bible Note: Hello Rowdy, Your whole line of reasoning suggests that one makes his standing in Christ better somehow by doing the good works. This was a problem that the book of Galatians deals with. Whether for justification or sanctification, good works do not place us on better footing. I think you misunderstand grace. It can by understood as God saying that He will do such-and-so regardless of what we do in return. Yes, we are to be obedient in doing good works, but it's because of what has been received rather than being safe or getting better situated. It's impossible to be any better situated than: Ephes. 2:6 (ESV) and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus Steve |
