Bible Note: Rowdy: Regarding your Post #120228: You gave it no title, of course, but if it were a newspaper article and I an editor assigned to writing a headline for it, I'd be torn among several eye-catching headlines. Your article could be called "Giving Grace a Boost" ...or "Salvation By Grace With Strings Attached" ...or "On the Road To Nirvana" ...or "Hedging Your Salvific Bet: Better To Be Safe Than Sorry" ...or "Fate at Judgment Day Depends on Doing Everything in OUR Power, Theologian Rowdy Declares" ...or "God's Grace Worthless Unless Man Does HIS Part" ...or "Salvation Possible Only By God AND Man" ... or "Playing Odds and Taking Chances: Salvation Is Like a Crap Game." ..... Any of these headlines, I believe, would be fairly descriptive of your post/essay/article, but not a one of them is or can be scripturally supported. ...... Rowdy, friend, your post is a mixed bag of theological conundrums. If it were I facing such a puzzling bag, I'd be tempted to empty it and start all over --Hank |
