Bible Note: Joe It was Calvin that brought forth the hypothesis of election to which I and over two thirds of Christianity object. You know as well as I do when Calvin got involved nearly 100 years after Luther broke from Rome the issues were more social/political than spiritual. At stake was who was going to be in charge and receive the 'tax' money. Say what you want Calvin's initial involvment was as a lawyer and not a theologian.
