Bible Note: Dear thetowns, I agree with your conclusion. Repentance is required as a condition of salvation, but it first must be granted by God. One may repent of an evil deed but not be forgiven. "for without faith it is impossible to please God". I think that Judas regretted his betrayel of Christ but his remorse was for himself and not because of his sin against God. Before I was saved, I lived in abject guilt over the sins I was commiting and lived a suicidal lifestyle. If I had died back then, I would have perished in my sin.
