Bible Note: Brian, Those who desire Christ will be saved. The desire itself is an assurance that the Holy Spirit is working in that person's life. But if he desire is not placed in one's heart by God, it is not a spiritual but a carnal desire. For instance: a person may desire Christ simply to escape damnation but not be repentant of their sins. This is a carnal desire for Christ to save them from just punishment that is not accompanied with the sorrow for sin or love for the Savior. These graces will always be present in saving faith. Thankfully, none of us our in a position to judge any one else's heart. John |
