Subject: Was Calvin just a slick lawyer? |
Bible Note: Joe My desire has been to study the Bible and I have repeatedly asked that forum return to that. When this C/A debate started I pleaded that this forum was not the place for it. Yet without fail the debate keeps coming up. Your link presents one perspective but others have voiced opinions they doubted Calvin knew little more than the Hebrew alphabet (Phillip Simeon). He was never known to translate anything. I will concede he possessed a mastery of Latin and French and probably knew more Hebrew than just the alphabet, however his understanding of Greek let a lot to be desired. This is seen in the conclusions he reached and the Bible text he presents as proof. Character Assassination? Such inflammatory words? Although not unexpected. I have nothing further to say to you on this subject. EdB |
