Bible Question:
Hello everyone. I was worndering if anyone could tell me if or not Judas ever repented and if so do you think he made it to heaven? If not why not? Thanks and God Bless |
Bible Answer: Wow! This is a great question, that I believe could spark a lot of debate and interesting discussions. I don't know how others may read this, but when I read Matthew 27 verses 3 - 5, I see first that he realized the huge error of his ways: 3"When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty silver coins to the chief priests and the elders. 4"I have sinned," he said, "for I have betrayed innocent blood." However, this is followed in verse 5 by "So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself." I believe he was very much in the same boat as King Nebuchadnezzer, or Pharoah. Their evil was used to God's glory. Judas hanged himself, when he should have (in my opinion) repented and proclaimed the gospel for the remainder of his life. I do believe Judas was remorseful, but do not believe he repented, asked forgiveness for his sins, and was saved. God Bless you for a great and difficult question! |
