Subject: What does "send her away" refer to? |
Bible Note: Wayne To someone that has not read very much, 'to send her away' may be taken very literally. Others that have been raised in the church and have had this phrase explained they would probably know the right answer. People that read on a regular basis and particularly the older classics would again know this was a figure of speech meaning to divorce her. I think this fact has been discovered isn’t that why we have the New Living Translation, God’s Word and English Standard Version of Bible? The fact you ask the question to me says you see a possibility for misunderstanding which again brings me to my question why ask? In translating do you not try to project the truest sense of the originals meaning? In this case since you question the understandability of this existing phrase why not simply use the word divorce? Why the question? Why the survey? EdB |
