Bible Note: Justme, thanks for your wish for my improved health, and I seem to be doing just fine, thanks to the combined benefic workings of Prayers, Pacemaker and Pills. :-) Regarding the continuing strong sales of the King James Bible, I think this may be explained, at least in part, by two things -- many are bought as gifts, and many are bought out of ignorance of other, easier-to-read modern versions. Unfortunately the sale of a Bible is no guarantee that it will be read. The woeful lack of reading skills of many of our high school students and even of some college students is a national disgrace. But we can't place the blame entirely on the shoulders of our educators. The breakdown of the basic unit of society, the home, is responsible more than anything else for the plight in which vast numbers of children find themselves. It does not take a village to raise a child, but it takes loving, dedicated and God-fearing fathers and mothers. That's God's plan, the family is God's establishment, and we always find ourselves in a sea of troubles when we ignore what He established. --Hank |
