Subject: WHERE TO FIND ALL THE NAMES OF GOD |
Bible Note: Greetings Truthfinder! Allow me to touch upon your points in reverse order! 2) Firstborn: No matter how one spins it, the word 'other' is not in the text, nor is it required in the English translation. It has been added simply because the JW's want Jesus to be classified as a created being. This is exactly what the JW's accuse the main translations of doing, yet they do it themselves when convient. 1) No other gods. Before I address your individual examples, allow me to say this: It is clear in Scripture that many things are called 'gods'. People who make an idol, consider it to be a god, but it is not. Having said this, Is. 43:10 is perfectly clear that there is no other god, besides Jehovah. a) Is. 9:6 - This one is simple. This is not speaking of 'another god', but of Jehovah incarnate. b) Ps. 8:5 - This verse uses a different word than Is. 43:10, so it is not relevant to the question. c) Ps. 82:1 and 6 - Verse 6 also uses a different Hebrew word than Is. 43:10. Ps. 82:1 does use the same word. However, there are two issues involved with this verse. First of all, no one is entirely sure what it is to which the word refers. Secondly, the context is poetic. One cannot place a poetic statement over a direct statement of Jehovah in Is. 43:10. I listed for you several direct statments by Jehovah that there are no 'other' gods. Which are we to believe, Jehovah Himself or Jehovah's so called Witnesses? For myself, I'll take Jehovah's words as truth. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
