Subject: Is there middle ground? |
Bible Note: Greetings Hank! Does it really have to be either or? Either we are good witnesses or we are good theologians! There are several on this forum whom I would consider to be excellent students of Scripture. No, I am not going to name names. But, I would definitely count you among them! But, I don't think that makes you a weaker witness. I think that makes you a better witness. The logic I hear from those who dread the C and A debates, seems to be: 1) This debate has went on for a long time. 2) No one is going to change their minds. 3) Therefore, we shouldn't discuss it. But, if we used this logic, we also couldn't discuss: a) The Trinity b) The Divinity of Christ c) The End Times d) The Purpose of Baptism e) The role of Women in the church. f) Spiritual gifts. g) The Holy Spirit. Do you see what I trying to say? Every major doctrine has been debated for years. Some even claim to be Christians who have very unorthodox positions. What can we discuss? My practice is simple. If I don't want to get involved in a thread, I don't. If I think someone is being rude or simply not interacting with me at all, I back out of the thread. The problem with the C and A debate is that it impacts almost every passage of Scripture in some way. Even if it is not someone's intention to debate the issue, a simple comment on a verse can turn into a debate on C and A. I don't if any of this makes sense or not! I just got home from work! But, I wanted to share my two cents! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
