Subject: Predestination: scriptures meaningless? |
Bible Note: Just a bit of clearing up here. You wrote: "Salvation by Predestination God Chooses his Elect 1. Preaching (does not matter since God will bring the light through someone eventually.) 2. Hearing (they will respond the first time since they already have an ear to hear.) 3. Believing (Automatic since God has already chosen them.) 4. ***Born Again*** (Automatic since God has already chosen them.) a. Spiritual growth (now have a ear to hear deeper truths, more light given), b. Stagnation (not possible), c. Back slide (not possible) ." Actually, this is how it looks: 1. Foreknowledge and predestination (Romans 8:29) 2. Preaching (essential because God has determined only through the external call; God does not require ME to preach to do His work, but he will sovereignly bring the gospel to His elect -- Romans 10:14) 3. Hearing and ***Born Again*** (God's effectual grace working through the external preaching of the gospel) 4. Believing (Caused by God by changing our natures, but at the same time a desired decision on the part of the convert; believing is what he wants to do because God has changed his nature so that his desire is to embrace Christ -- Acts 13:48; Acts 16:14; Romans 8:6-8; 1 Corinthians 1:18,26-28; 2 Corinthians 4:3-6) a. Spiritual growth (sanctification) b. Stagnation (possible but not a life-long condition) c. Backslide (same as above) --Joe! |
