Subject: Does God endorse polygamy? |
Bible Note: Sordman007: I do respect your honesty, and the seriousness of deep conviction. Let me say again, you have a very well thought out presentation of your view point. I have never read anyone with such depth of study, and knowledge of scripture in regards to plural marriages. I clearly see you have devoted much time in studing this subject. I personally would not, nor could not have such a well defined, chrisp and clear defense to rebut your theory. I do agree to disagree with you, with kindness and respect. I think your bias clouds your understanding. When we have our mind made up, and so well organized with selected scripture, that seems to back up our theory, it is impossible for others to prove to us what might be an error, in understanding the wide scope of scripture. Rather than address the scripture you used, may I use what Jesus said? With out exact quotes. Jesus said to render to Ceaser that what is Ceasers, and to God the things that are His. Well Ceaser is our governing laws in the USA. We are told to obey the law. There is no way I can see that plural marriages is not a legal problem. Thus making it a moral problem with the LORD ALMIGHTY. I present this theory in respect and kindness. However Don, I wonder why such an issue, that is pretty outlandish, in today's world in the USA, occupies so much of your conversation on the forum? I sincerely doubt that your view point has much impact in the general interest in the lives of most Christians in the USA. I would much more like to read such well thought out theory on predestination, or Millennisum, or even eternal security! (Which eternal security has been a topic so many times this year we are all still holding our breath for a while.) In all kindness, I do not know of a single seminary professor in the two I attended that would give your theory any creditability. The word that comes to my mind is scripture twisting. I mean this with no offense to your personhood. I do feel and think you need to look at the lives of the people in the Bible who had plural wives and see that there was consequences for stepping out of God's direct will, into His tollerable will. There is quite a difference between the two. I have yet to read any where in the Bible that says pulral wives is good, and is God's will for men and women. Please think on what I have said. I look for your further dialogue. justme |
