Subject: Does God endorse polygamy? |
Bible Note: Sordman007: Out of being a bit confused by your questions and notes, can you clarify for me what you are attempting to get across? I think I read you are not against monogany. However I get the impression you are likewise not against plural wives. Am I correct in my understanding? Why is this an area that you have such a strong interest to dialogue about. You are the first person that has ever brought this up in such a well thought out way. In following the theology of your thoughts, a man could fall in love with another woman while married, and rather than divorce his first wife, if his first wife allowed, he could add the new loved woman to the family? This would be acceptable in several countries now. Under this theological assumption the only position the church would not allow him to serve is Elder or Deacon. Am I right? Looking at this just from a pratical stand point, few women in America would find this acceptable. Financially what man could afford plural wives? I can't imagine two women getting along in this situation. We see that in many situations of certian sects of religious groups in America. Sad, but often there is incest involved in these plural wives marriages, which clearly violate Biblical standards. What are your thoughts? justme |
