Bible Note: New Creature I really don't have a problem with Cainan nor the ages of the patriarchs. Nor do I have a problem believing the creation story was passed on by word of mouth from people that talked to Adam. All I was offering was the fact that we know there are people not listed in the major genealogy lists that did in fact live. While this is most prevalent in the generations listing the kings, Cainan may also be an example. I have heard many explanations on the subject of Cainan and have read many commentaries but no one is able to offer finite proof one way or another. Therefore the fact remains there could have been a man called Cainan and another generation not listed in the Genesis genealogy. I also offered the opinion of a man that had studied this subject for over 20 years and authored the Reese Chronological Bible. I do think he may be considered an expert in this field. However not knowing how he arrived at his conclusions I can not/ do not defend the Reese dating I just offered it. If you and Pastor Glenn are satisfied with the ages/dates you have arrived at Praise God! For me this subject has passed it's usefulness and further pursuit offers no benefit. EdB |
