965 | are baptists closed communionist? | Luke 22:19 | Val | 195549
Those churches that I have been involved with practice open communion, however, each individual church makes its own determination as to how to practice communion. Luke 22:19 And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, "This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me." |

967 | are there errors in the bible? | Bible general Archive 4 | Val | 195542
"William Tyndale (1493-1536) devoted his life to translating the Bible from the original Greek and Hebrew into English. His print shop was raided and destroyed by the city officials because it was an illegal operation. Tydale was executed for his "heretical" efforts. His last words, in the form of a prayer, were "Lord, open the King of England's eyes." Just three years later, King Henry VIII ordered that every church in England have a copy of the Scriptures in English. Tyndale's Bible would become the basis for the King James Bible, first published in 1611 which, for many today, is still considered England's "official" Bible." taken from "A Guide to the Scriptorium", The Holy Land Experience. It is easy to criticize but more appropriate would be a thankful heart for those men God used to bring the bible to us. These men who were martyred for the word of God are in my estimation most honorable. I am thankful that my God raised up men such as Tyndale for such a time as this. "Esther for 4:14..for such a time as this" |

Taken from ApologictsIndex.org" "Hickey, Marilyn Word-Faith teacher. Chairman on the Board of Regents of Oral Roberts University. Known for manipulative, deceptive fundraising tactics." Ten minutes later she told her viewers that if we didn't send money, her program would have to be dropped from the station... Apparently, Ms. Hickey's teachings don't work." 971 | "judge the living and the dead" | Revelation | Val | 195369
Do a word study on the Bema Seat of Christ. Other words you could use are judgment, rewards, deeds, and resurrection. Always remember there are two sets of judgments and two sets of resurrection. One for the righteous and one for the wicked. The eternal destiny is not what is being talked about in these judgments but the deeds done in the body. That is why a word study on rewards and deeds will help you understand these. 1 and 2 Corinthians and Romans and of course Revelation has information on this topic. |

973 | Why were these things asked of them? | Lev 10:6 | Val | 195317
The answer is found in the "so that" 10:6 -so that you will not die and that He will not become wrathful against all the congregation. 10:9 -so that you will not die--it is a perpetual statute throughout your generations-- Why were these things asked of them? Lev 10:3 Then Moses said to Aaron, "It is what the LORD spoke, saying, 'By those who come near Me I will be treated as holy, The thing that Eleazar and Ithamar had done - offering strange fire that the Lord had not commanded - brought about judgement to them. If you read the entire book of Leviticus you will get a better picture of what the Lord expected. Also the book of Hebrews explains the book of Leviticus. Hope this helps. |

974 | The Holy Spirit | John 14:12 | Val | 195316
A study of the book of John will answer your question. Focusing on the fourteenth chapter of John, list exactly what Jesus said we would do if we love Him. We learn much more and it means more to us if we study the word for ourselves and examine it to see if what others say about it is true. The evidence that Jesus is God is that He raised the dead and healed those that were sick. We are to love the Lord and obey His commandments as He repeats this in the fourteenth chapter several times. We cannot come to conclusions because of what others say - we must study the bible for ourselves. May I suggest you find a good in depth study of John - May God bless you as you grow in the grace and knowledge of Him. John 17:3 "This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. |

975 | DIFFERENTS BETWEEN PAUL AND PETER | Gal 2:11 | Val | 195184
Gal 2:7 But on the contrary, seeing that I had been entrusted with the gospel to the uncircumcised, just as Peter had been to the circumcised Gal 2:8 (for He who effectually worked for Peter in his apostleship to the circumcised effectually worked for me also to the Gentiles), Peter's primary ministry was to the circumcised (Jewish people) and Paul's was to the uncircumcised (all others/gentiles) |

976 | how can we receive holy spirit | Acts | Val | 195182
Acts 10:33 "So I sent for you immediately, and you have been kind enough to come. Now then, we are all here present before God to hear all that you have been commanded by the Lord." Acts 10:34 Opening his mouth, Peter said: "I most certainly understand now that God is not one to show partiality, Acts 10:35 but in every nation the man who fears Him and does what is right is welcome to Him. Acts 10:36 "The word which He sent to the sons of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ (He is Lord of all)-- Acts 10:37 you yourselves know the thing which took place throughout all Judea, starting from Galilee, after the baptism which John proclaimed. Acts 10:38 "You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. Acts 10:39 "We are witnesses of all the things He did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They also put Him to death by hanging Him on a cross. Acts 10:40 "God raised Him up on the third day and granted that He become visible, Acts 10:41 not to all the people, but to witnesses who were chosen beforehand by God, that is, to us who ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead. Acts 10:42 "And He ordered us to preach to the people, and solemnly to testify that this is the One who has been appointed by God as Judge of the living and the dead. Acts 10:43 "Of Him all the prophets bear witness that through His name everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins." Acts 10:44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who were listening to the message. Acts 10:45 All the circumcised believers who came with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. Acts 10:46 For they were hearing them speaking with tongues and exalting God. Then Peter answered, Acts 10:47 "Surely no one can refuse the water for these to be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we did, can he?" Acts 10:48 And he ordered them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay on for a few days. Hope this helps. Not all people speak in tongues as they did here but as you see in verse 43 and 44 we must believe in who Jesus is and what he did for us and upon that belief in Him He seals us with the Holy Spirit. Prayer and bible study and worshipping Him in a bible believing church are the basics by which we grow in the grace and knowledge of our dear Lord. |

978 | Going to heaven or asleep | 2 Cor 5:8 | Val | 195179
1 Thess 4:13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. 1 Thess 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. 1 Thess 4:15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 1 Thess 4:16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 1 Thess 4:17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. 1 Thess 4:18 Therefore comfort one another with these words. Christ is coming back again and the above scriptures shows that He will bring those who have already died and gone to heaven with Him when He comes. Their physical bodies that are in the grave will be joined together with their spirit. Those of us who are alive when He comes back will also be changed into a new body without seeing physical death. 1 Cor 15:51 Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, 1 Cor 15:52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. |
