NASB | Leviticus 10:6 Then Moses said to Aaron and to his sons Eleazar and Ithamar, "Do not uncover your heads nor tear your clothes, so that you will not die and that He will not become wrathful against all the congregation. But your kinsmen, the whole house of Israel, shall bewail the burning which the LORD has brought about. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Leviticus 10:6 Then Moses said to Aaron and to his [younger] sons Eleazar and Ithamar, "Do not uncover your heads nor let your hair hang loose nor tear your clothes [as expressions of mourning], so that you will not die [also] and so that He will not express His wrath and anger toward all the congregation. But your relatives, the whole house of Israel, may mourn the burning which the LORD has brought about. |
Bible Question:
in Leviticus 10:6 mosses told Aaron, Eleazar an dIthamar not to uncover their heards or they would die. Why? And in verse 9 the could not drink any alcohol in the tent. Why? |
Bible Answer: The answer is found in the "so that" 10:6 -so that you will not die and that He will not become wrathful against all the congregation. 10:9 -so that you will not die--it is a perpetual statute throughout your generations-- Why were these things asked of them? Lev 10:3 Then Moses said to Aaron, "It is what the LORD spoke, saying, 'By those who come near Me I will be treated as holy, The thing that Eleazar and Ithamar had done - offering strange fire that the Lord had not commanded - brought about judgement to them. If you read the entire book of Leviticus you will get a better picture of what the Lord expected. Also the book of Hebrews explains the book of Leviticus. Hope this helps. |
