901 | what is leviticus 14 about... | Bible general Archive 4 | Val | 196941
It is the law regarding Leprosy. Anyone with any mark of leprosy or any spot on their skin that might be leprosy was to go to the Priest and be checked out. The priest looked at the place on the skin and determined if it was indeed leprosy. The priest would be compare to our doctor today. The person had to make follow-up visits until the mark was gone and the end result would be to determine if it was indeed leprosy or not leprosy. If it was leprosy it was very contagious and that person was ostracized from society so that he would not spread the disease. Lev 14:54 This is the law for any mark of leprosy--even for a scale, Lev 14:55 and for the leprous garment or house, Lev 14:56 and for a swelling, and for a scab, and for a bright spot-- Lev 14:57 to teach when they are unclean and when they are clean. This is the law of leprosy. |

Azure, the Preceptaustin.org website gives information on the inductive study approach. It also explains why this method is beneficial before going to commentaries. It also gives information on the interpretive approaches individual commentators use. This helps to understand their approach. Hope this helps.

905 | Who is the one holding back? | Bible general Archive 4 | Val | 196806
I am afraid it does, sorry, I don't agree with you. We already have established that. This is my view, not dogmatic, just a view: 2 Thess 2:1 Now we request you, brethren, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, (Please note the passage I quoted is speaking of our Lord's return and the believers being taken off of the earth, just as it is speaking in this passage, i.e., our gathering together to Him) 2 Thess 2:2 that you not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit or a message or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. (some were teaching that the great suffering they were experiencing was because the day of the Lord had already come and they had many questions and worries about it. The day of the Lord is a series of events.) 2 Thess 2:3 Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, 2 Thess 2:4 who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God. 2 Thess 2:5 Do you not remember that while I was still with you, I was telling you these things? 2 Thess 2:6 And you know what restrains him now, so that in his time he will be revealed. (this takes place after the believers have been taken off the earth. We know that the work of the Holy Spirit is to live in believers and convict them of sin and enable them to live a life overcoming sin and live to righteousness, in other words, loving Christ Jesus and obeying Him) 2 Thess 2:7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way. (Anywhere you have godly people they influence the lives of others in their families, their co-workers, everywhere they go because an unbeliever sees their lives and how they follow Christ Jesus obeying Him, loving Him. This is a restraining influence because even those who do not follow Christ are affected by these believers) 2 Thess 2:8 Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; (Then is a time phrase - it tells when something is going to happen. We know that there are many, many names for the anti-christ and the lawless one is one of them. He does not follow Christ Jesus. He opposes Him and His followers but through the work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers He is thwarted from doing as he pleases totally) 2 Thess 2:9 that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders, (There is an appointed time for this and I believe that is what you and I differ on. So in the attitude of christain peacefulness let us not break fellowship because we do not agree, ok? I respect and value your thoughts and I hope you will show me the same respect even if it differs from yours. Thanking you in advance, your sister-in Christ) |

907 | Who is the one holding back? | Bible general Archive 4 | Val | 196792
1 Thess 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. 1 Thess 4:15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 1 Thess 4:16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 1 Thess 4:17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. 1 Thess 4:18 Therefore comfort one another with these words. Believers are taken off of the earth. Unbelievers are left on the earth. |

908 | reason for paul's circumcising Timothy | Acts 16:3 | Val | 196787
Gentiles were offensive to some of the jewish people. Paul didn't want Timothy to experience trouble because he was not circumcised. It was a way to keep peace.
909 | Who is the one holding back? | Bible general Archive 4 | Val | 196786

910 | CAN WOMEN WEAR PANTS TO CHURCH | Bible general Archive 4 | Val | 196785
If you are in a church that has made it a policy not to wear pants to church, you will probably be uncomfortable if you do. It is offensive to some people. We can wear pants as there is no commandment that says you can't. We are not to dress like men but wear feminine clothes, pants, etc. Also not to wear them too tight or suggestive but modest apparel. Again if you have a church covenant that says don't wear them and you want to wear them, you might need to search for a different church. We are not to dress like men or act like men so the motivation for your wanting to wear the pants is something between you and God and you will need to pray about this as well as search the scriptures for your answer.

912 | living in sin(out of wedlock) ministry? | John 3:16 | Val | 196743
Take him at his word. If you are afraid it will hurt your image that would not be the reason to kick them out. Remember that you represent the church to them and if you kick them out they may never return to any church in the future. Consult the pastor of your church and let him decide. Usually what happens is if you confront them they will get mad and never come back to your class. They will talk about you. Others will take sides. Those who side with them will leave also. It could even destroy your present class. Ministry is hard, is it not? Watching others continue in sin does grieve us but we must wait for God to work in their lives and bring them to repentance. 913 | Why replace a wolf for a lion | Is 54:10 | Val | 196699
Its the leopard and the goat in this passage. That was her point that the lion and lamb are lying in a pasture in peace. The lion is not trying to eat the lamb but someone told her it is a wolf and a lamb. Anyway the point is peace - there will be peace even among the animals. Hope this helps, John. Is 11:6 And the wolf will dwell with the lamb, And the leopard will lie down with the young goat, And the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; And a little boy will lead them. |

914 | Are woman suppose to wear pants? | Prov 31:25 | Val | 196697
Women are suppose to dress modestly. A clean heart will affect what a woman wears on the outside. Protect your heart. The inner person is what remains beautiful when age comes. The whole chapter of Proverbs 31 is excellent. Prov 31:22 She makes coverings for herself; Her clothing is fine linen and purple. Prov 31:23 Her husband is known in the gates, When he sits among the elders of the land. Prov 31:24 She makes linen garments and sells them, And supplies belts to the tradesmen. Prov 31:25 Strength and dignity are her clothing, And she smiles at the future. |

915 | Celebrating Christmas scripturely | Luke 1:12 | Val | 196691
Its a personal decision. I love Christmas and celebrate it but I also celebrate Christ's birth every day of the year in my heart. Its a time we use to share a meal, gifts and love with our families similar to thanksgiving. As long as we celebrate in an honorable way I see nothing wrong with it. Luke 1:14 "You will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at His birth. |

I believe we are suppose to mark our ongoing posts as notes after an initial question. Hope this helps. By the way I suggest you just let it go. Enough has been said. Prov 15:1 A gentle answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger. |

917 | Why replace a wolf for a lion | Is 54:10 | Val | 196683
We would have to ask the writer of the song I guess. Since the song was widely sung, it sort of took off and other things were created like the pictures and paintings. Yes a wolf would have worked as well but for some reason, unknown to us, the writer chose a lion. I think your missing the point though. The song conveys how wonderful it will be when there is peace. We all make mistakes. This is a small one. It does not change the theme of the song or message of peace. The Lord said we are to proclaim the gospel and trust Him for the results. Trust Him. He works in people's lives to bring them the gospel. John 3:16
918 | Isa. 65:25 The wolf and the lamb | Is 54:10 | Val | 196679
In 1937 Thomas Andrew Dorsey wrote a song for Mahalia Jackson “Peace in the Valley,” which has become extremely popular. It has been recorded by Red Foley, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley and has been sung in churches for decades. Oh well, I'm tired and so weary But I must go alone Till the lord comes and calls, calls me away, oh yes Well the morning's so bright And the lamp is alight And the night, night is as black as the sea, oh yes There will be peace in the valley for me, some day There will be peace in the valley for me, oh Lord I pray There'll be no sadness, no sorrow No trouble, trouble I see There will be peace in the valley for me, for me Well the bear will be gentle And the wolves will be tame And the lion shall lay down by the lamb, oh yes And the beasts from the wild Shall be lit by a child And I'll be changed, changed from this creature that I am, oh yes There will be peace in the valley for me, some day There will be peace in the valley for me, oh Lord I pray There'll be no sadness, no sorrow No trouble, trouble I see There will be peace in the valley for me, for me The theme of the song is Peace. I think the picture of peace is still there even if the lion is in the wolf's place. Is 54:10 "For the mountains may be removed and the hills may shake, But My lovingkindness will not be removed from you, And My covenant of peace will not be shaken," Says the LORD who has compassion on you. |

919 | psychics | Deut 18:11 | Val | 196676
These things are strictly forbidden in scripture. They amount to idoltry. These are things that are involved in the occult. Since we are told to stay away from these things, it is better if we do not allow them a place in our lives or in our living rooms.
920 | Book of life are the lost to be found | Bible general Archive 4 | Val | 196675
Just as God sent His Son in the fullness of time, He has appointed a time for His return. I am sorry I do not understand your questions or what point you are trying to make. As I understand it once a person dies, after that the judgment. Your initial question was an assumption that they will be given another chance during the 1,000 year reign. My answer was that they will be raised for the white throne judgement. They will not be given another chance. If you see that somewhere in scripture I would be interested to see it.
