981 | Can prayer change perfect will of God? | Ps 115:3 | Val | 195074
In the context that is what it says. In saying that I have not studied the book of Exodus precept upon precept so I am not prepared to discuss it. I have studied Genesis - what chapter were you talking about regarding Abraham and Lot. I would like to look at it. Is Shalom hello?
982 | Can prayer change perfect will of God? | Ps 115:3 | Val | 195054
Reading the whole chapter you see that He had commanded them not to make or worship idols. If you look on down in the chapter you see that 3,000 were destroyed. Sometimes it is better to look at the whole picture instead of getting stumped on one verse. The lesson we can take from this incident is that God takes sin very seriously. I hope this helps.
983 | Why did arrons sons die? | Lev 10:9 | Val | 195041
Some bible students believe the answer is found in Lev 10:9 "Do not drink wine or strong drink, neither you nor your sons with you, when you come into the tent of meeting, so that you will not die--it is a perpetual statute throughout your generations-- ..." Some bible students believe the boys may have been drunk. |

985 | OVER TAXATION! | Bible general Archive 4 | Val | 194982
Read the story of Paul the Apostle. He took no money and he also warned of those who preached the gospel for the money they got out of it. He called it dishonest gain. You can find him in Acts and in the Epistles. There are many good churches around. You might find one that does not focus so much on money but more on Christ Jesus.

988 | Can prayer change perfect will of God? | Ps 115:3 | Val | 194962
We are told from the bible that God desires a relationship with us. In reading in Genesis you will see the relationship He has with Adam and Eve and if you follow that through you will see how He keeps covenant, we call it a legal, binding agreement. The bible is full of stories of how the Creator desires a relationship with His creation and how He loves us. He also tells us about His Son who He sent to die for us so that we could have a relationship with Him. He sent His Son to rescue us and deliver us from the bondage we have in sin and death to give us eternal life and peace in Him. He desires that we love and trust and obey Him. When we do that our will conforms to His will. I would suggest you start a study program on "How to Pray" by Kay Arthur and get a copy of the NASB Inductive Study Bible that has instructions at the beginning of each chapter helping you to study the bible and understand its meaning. Hope this helps.
989 | Can a christian go to hell? | 1 Corinthians | Val | 194961
"Matt 5:1 When Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on the mountain; and after He sat down, His disciples came to Him. Matt 5:2 He opened His mouth and began to teach them, saying,..." Please note that the text says He saw the crowds and his disciples sat down with Him and He began to teach them. Since he was teaching both the crowds and his disciples, it cannot be assumed that everyone He was teaching were His followers (christians) at that time. I suggest the book "How to study the bible" by Kay Arthur and the NASB Inductive Study Bible. Hope this helps. |

992 | covering heaven with a cloud? | Bible general Archive 4 | Val | 194901
It would be better if you would provide the verse and we could see what you are talking about. If you don't know where the verse is, how can you draw a conclusion without first observing the text.
993 | Why is pride a sin? | Proverbs | Val | 194899
When trying to understand a topic, one of the ways to discover the meaning of a word and its use is to look it up in in its context in the bible and see how it is used. For instance, to the right you will see under "Get Bible Text" a place to "Search word". After entering the word "pride" and click on "Search" a series of verses come up from the bible. To the left of the verse you will see "I","N', and "C". Clicking on the "I" will bring up the defination of the word as it is used in the context. You will see that pride is translated different ways depending on the context. This is essential in trying to understand the meaning. As you look at different verses where pride is used you will get an understanding of what the Lord is conveying in the verse. Pride in the sense of satisfaction with making a good grade is not a bad thing. We do have joy when we do good in our studies. As you study the word pride, you will see as in the case of Nebuchadnezzer - it is when we leave God out of the equation that is a type of pride that sets its self up against our creator in the sense of saying or thinking we don't need Him or we can make it without Him. As you see in Nebuchadnezzer's case, he says I built this and exalted his own self importance. God had to bring him down to show him that all he had was given to him by God. So in conclusion I would say if you acknowledge that God is the one who gave you your abilities and talents and praise and thank Him for the good grades - you will be doing the right thing. I suggest reading the entire Chapter of Daniel 4 to see how Nebuchadnezzar himself explains how God dealt with him concerning his pride. Dan 4:37 "Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise, exalt and honor the King of heaven, for all His works are true and His ways just, and He is able to humble those who walk in pride." |

994 | If God said in the ten commandments "Tho | Lev 26:1 | Val | 194807
Since you did not list a scripture reference I will give you one: Lev 26:1 'You shall not make for yourselves idols, nor shall you set up for yourselves an image or a sacred pillar, nor shall you place a figured stone in your land to bow down to it; for I am the LORD your God. The key to understanding the verse is in what you do with the image. It says not to bow down to it. In other words don't worship it as a god. Wearing crosses is for decorative purposes. |

997 | God being totally committed to man | Bible general Archive 4 | Val | 194780
To the right you will see a section called Get Bible Text. Under the Search word section you can type a topic and pull up the verses to support it. I would suggest words such as but not limited to: God, man, covenant, promise, commitment. Since this is a general question you may find what you are looking for in the verses that come up for that word. If you have further questions regarding a particular context, we can provide more specific answers. Hope this helps.
998 | ghosts? | Bible general Archive 4 | Val | 194778
A good scripture to study might be where Paul talks with the people at Athens who were very intelligent. Read Acts 17:15-34 and see how Paul interacts with these people. My point being in Acts 17:21 (Now all the Athenians and the strangers visiting there used to spend their time in nothing other than telling or hearing something new.) Notice how Paul steers the conversation back to Christ. As you see in the last part of the chapter some began to sneer but some believed then Paul moved on. I take from this chapter that we can spend time with people telling them the gospel but not waste time with things other than the gospel. The gospel should be our main focus and bringing the conversation back to it is our aim. Then people have a choice - some believe, some do not, then we move on. Our commission is to sow the seed, God gives the increase. |
