Bible Question:
Apologies if this question has already been asked; I've done a few searches and am overwhelmed at what I am finding. Problem is, I still don't think I have the answer I am seeking. With that being said, I guess I am looking for a confirmation that I am understanding this correctly... 2Timothy 4 references the fact that Jesus will judge the living and the dead when He returns to set up His Kingdom on earth. I understand that. What I do not understand is, who are the 'dead' that are being judged? Is it the unfaithful? Aren't we ALL judged when we die? Is this how we get to the 'Second death' referenced in Revelation 20? If the judging of the dead is only applicable to the unfaithful, then it is correct to understand that Christ-followers go to Heaven at their time of death, right? They will not be judged again, right? There would be no reason... am I understanding this correctly? Thanks in advance for your insights! |
Bible Answer: Do a word study on the Bema Seat of Christ. Other words you could use are judgment, rewards, deeds, and resurrection. Always remember there are two sets of judgments and two sets of resurrection. One for the righteous and one for the wicked. The eternal destiny is not what is being talked about in these judgments but the deeds done in the body. That is why a word study on rewards and deeds will help you understand these. 1 and 2 Corinthians and Romans and of course Revelation has information on this topic. |
