81 | And can we accept this challenge? | Bible general Archive 2 | Mommapbs | 151141
Greetings Hank - If we truly believe that when one member of the Body suffers, all suffer,(1 Cor 12:26) then shouldn't healing or restoration be a priority to the Body? What would "measureable results" that precede restoration look like FOR THE BODY as well as for a fallen believer? I believe the answer is found in Gal 6:1 - gentleness is a fruit of the Holy Spirit, therefore any 'restoration' (which could also include equipping and completing or rebuke and correction) that is devoid of the Spirit (and Its fruit) is not Godly. When we choose to obey the commands of Christ we will see Him at work through us to rebuke, correct and restore with gentleness, Please see: James 3:13-18; 2 Tim 2:24-26 I believe that we should also see Godly sorrow that leads to repentance. (2 Cor 7:9,10) Just some observation to consider as we seek to edify one another. mommapbs (Imo, Departing from the sound words of Christ happens a lot here. I am sure that I am guilty too - forgive me. (1 Tim 6:3) The issue of capitalization does not seem to be cause for breaking of fellowship and I am unaware of the "theory" that you have referenced here. I have a spirit, it is living, holy and acceptable to God because of the work of the Holy Spirit of Christ that dwells in me. Color me blonde but what is wrong with identifying Who is God and who is not? If I am wrong, please forgive me of my ignorance here!) |

Hank - as you have noted, SBF is not a church - but it is a place where we do "fellowship" - if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, 1 John 1:7. SBF is a place of contribution, sharing and participation (koinônia) - at least I have found this here. If you are IN Christ and I am IN Christ, then we are BOTH part of His Body. It was not God's design for there to be divisions, but one Body, (1 Cor 12 v 25) and we do have a responsibility toward one another as part of that Body. Right or wrong, I have considered you, brother Hank, to be my elder in the Lord and I thank God for you. There are many on this Forum whom I believe God has granted much wisdom and knowledge and I avidly seek out their posts when I have questions. According to Ez 36:26 God has given us a new heart and a new spirit. What kind of new spirit would He give to us? The Holy spirit testifies with our spirit that we are children of God. Because we are indwelt by the Holy Spirit we are sanctified (made holy) by His presence. Romans 8:16, 1 Peter 1:2, Col 1:22 I am in no way suggesting that the regenerated believer is without sin! But indeed he is set apart unto God - the believer is called holy by the writer of Hebrews (3:1), identified as being built into a holy preisthood and part of a holy nation (1 Peter 2) Paul (Col 1:22) tells us that we are reconciled to God through the death of Jesus "in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach." Interestingly, Paul describes an unmarried woman or virgin as holy in BOTH body and spirit (1 Cor 7:34). This makes sense to me, and affirms that who we are IN Christ is wholly a work of God. Grace, period. Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass. 1 Thess 5:23-4 Grace to you, mommapbs |

Greetings Ray - I realize that this is very subjective but . . . from these Scriptures, what does God want you to focus on here about what He says about Himself and what He says about who you are? Are there any action steps that you believe God is calling you to do as a result of these verses? I'd be interested to read your responses to these questions. Blessings, mommapbs |

Ray - I asked you for some specific answers, not your comparison of text. Perhaps this is edifying to you, but I find what you have written in response as almost an "unknown tongue." As believers, we have a responsibility to one another . . . What is the outcome then, brethren? When you assemble, each one has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has a tongue, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification. 1 Cor 14:26. I believe that our posts should be encouraging, looking to build one another up, an application of the truth that is personal but not self-focused and applicable to others for their growth. Eph 4:29; Romans 15:2 . . .let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds Heb 10:24 (Opinion alert)Anyone can read a commentary, or post old sermon notes, or mark their Bibles so that they have a clearer understanding of the Diety of God, but a personal testimony of God's activity in one's life can be a powerful source of edification too. (1 Peter 3:15) It saddens me that our dialogue has come to this and has garnered such an ungenerous response . . . God knows your heart Ray, I'd like to too. mommapbs |

85 | New prophecies in the New Testament? | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 22615
Thank you searcher - I am away from home and don't have a huge amount of time to devote to this request! I knew that Isaiah, Ezekiel and Daniel were the books to look at - they align with The Revelation - I agree with you, I'm excited about tomorrow, but God has given me THIS DAY! Praise Him!
86 | Competition for our love Rev. 2:4-5 | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 27675
Good questions. Remember that Jesus' own brothers did not believe at first! None of them were His disciples either! That in itself is interesting and thought provoking. Salvation is not inherited through family association! We could speculate all day about why Jesus chose John, obviously, He knew what was best and John was it! Also, from what I read, there is disagreement about the life of Mary (when and where she died, etc) after Jesus' death. Bottom line is this: anything or anyone who becomes the object of our love and devotion ahead of Jesus Christ is an idol. And we don't have to bow down before it for something to become one! Regardless of of one's religious tradition, Mary was blessed among women, but there is nothing in Scripture to support that she was any more than just a woman, like you or me. She needed a Savior too! I think that the warning Jesus issued in Revelation 2:4,5 can be applied to any situation or relationship that diminishes our love and devotion to Him FIRST! Blessings to you and thanks for responding to my "note!" |

87 | is no one going to answer me? | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 27846
Dear Ed, I hope this answer was just a joke. Seems to me that humor is uncalled for in this instance. Hebrews 10:24 et al commands us to encourage one another; to spur one another on toward love and good deeds. . . we are to build one another up. (We should esteem the weaker vessel!) After reading her intial post,I felt a keen sympathy for this dear sister in Christ. Your response seems a bit out of character from other posts I have enjoyed of yours! Mommapbs |

88 | is no one going to answer me? | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 27852
Dear Grace: Everyone struggles with approval. Some may be in denial, but we all want to be loved and accepted! God made us to be relational beings, to enjoy a love relationship with Him. When that was lost in the Garden, we have searched for "approval" ever since. It's a good thing, for most of us come to the Savior out of this God-given desire! It is HIS approval, His love that satisfies our deepest longings. I don't argue that it would be nice for others to appreciate your service, but their appreciation is insignificant in the economy of God. In everything, do unto the Lord and not for men - Check out Col 3:23-25! "Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve. For he who does wrong will receive the consequences of the wrong which he has done, and that without partiality." Those who have not taken the opportunity to build you up will have to give an account before the Lord. I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of His discipline! Take heart, the Lord knows all that you do for Him. He sees the Love you have for Him and this is ALL that matters! Blessings! Mommapbs |

90 | what does 1 Corinthians 14:34-40 mean? | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 30844
Greetings Grace! Reading in commentaries on this subject may be helpful in understanding the historical significance of this issue. However, having been mentored by a wonderful woman of God, I don't believe that this particular reference is to be taken literally. My dear sister in the Lord explained it this way: women are subject to the authority of men and if a man is willing to assume responsibility (accountability?)for the woman, she may hold a position of leadership in the church. Under his authority she is able to teach, etc. For example, my father is the teacher of our Sunday school class. He as given me a portion of teaching to present. I feel comfortable in doing so because I am under his authority. I would not feel at liberty to teach a class of men however! I think that in this as in other matters of propriety in worship, we should seek the counsel of God to reveal to us what is pleasing to Him. So please bear in mind that this is a personal issue. Ask God, He will answer you! Blessings to you, Mommapbs |

93 | John MacArthur an antinomian?!? | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 38396
Greetings and the PEACE of OUR Lord be unto you zach† ! It has saddened me to read the recent exchanges on this Forum. "Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you." Ephesians 4:31-32 I believe it is important for us to recognize and respect our differences and yet love at all times, even when it becomes very difficult. Leaving the Forum would be much easier, and at times when I feel a bit "beaten up," I consider that option too. But I don't think it is the God honoring choice. Not only did Jesus tell us to love one another - but the world will know that we are His because we do! You have apologized, please put this behind you and remain with the Forum. With love in Jesus for YOU! Mommapbs |

I am writing this in love and with the hope for the Peace of Jesus to prevail. How jealously the reputation of John MacArthur has been guarded! I wonder what he would think of this thread. But more importantly, how do you think OUR Lord feels when His children cross words with one another? We are participating on the Forum to share God's WORDS - it is a privilege, yet I don't think anyone should ever be made to feel that they have to withdraw! Greetings EdB! I think EVERYONE is "of use" as we are all members of the same body. It might be wise to remember that when one member suffers, we all do! I have sent the following to Reformer Joe and I would like to share these thoughts with you too. I am writing this in love and with the hope for the Peace of Jesus to prevail. Greetings Joe! I was glad to see your post as well as EdB's this AM. Problem with cyberspace is that it's not as instantaneous as we would like. Its interesting that you would presume that mercy is one of my spiritual gifts. It is not. I am perhaps the most unmerciful person I know! Yet last night when I hopped on line to see what was going on in the Forum, I was so distressed by what I had read that I felt compelled to bring a reminder of God's mercy to everyone's attention. I completly concur that we need to attend to correction and "church discipline." We also need to esteem one another and the treasure that God has placed within each believer. When one falls, we must be on guard to restore and not retailiate. I am not suggesting that this took place, but some damage was done and it needed to be repaired. I thank you for your efforts to encourage our brother in CHrist not to leave the forum and I look forward to reading more of what God has to say to you! Blesssings, Mommapbs

Greetings EdB! I was glad to read your post this AM as well as the one from Reformer Joe. I did read the posts and while I agree that we should never misrepresent another individual, in the middle of the night I wondered why no one rose to Charles Stanley's defense? Should we judge his theology from snippets of quotes too? Since I really don't know either theologian, I am not in a position to speculate on what prompted any of these remarks. I prefer to go to God and ask Him to reveal to me what I need to know. This is what makes His Word so precious - it is personal. How easy it is to see the speck in another's eye while ignoring the plank in our own! Thank you for your apology as well as your declared intent to bear witness to the truth. I look forward to reading your posts on the forum as well as those of others. We are ALL needed here! Blessings, Mommapbs |

Greeting again EdB! You wrote: "I question some of the things you imply." in reference to my observation: How easy it is to see the speck in another's eye while ignoring the plank in our own! Please do not misunderstand me - the ointment I apply to myself is a salve to be recognized and shared. You are free to use it as needed. I cannnot assess YOUR need however, nor was that my intent of the observation. I think the Holy Spirit is perfectly capable of performing HIS work without MY interference! Hope this clears the air! Far be it for me to judge, lest I be judged! In Him who is our bond of Peace and Love! Mommopbs |

99 | Is our dress a reflection of our heart? | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 39089
Greetings CDBJ! I agree in principle with your observations, and we have always taught our boys to remove their hats when they go indoors ANYWHERE - yet here are some other thoughts! I recall the days when it was unacceptable for a woman to go into church with her head uncovered! I wonder how many women will be sporting "easter bonnets" this year?!! Jewish men wear skullcaps (out of respect?)in their houses of worship. And lastly, I recall 8 years ago when our teenage son was in treatment for cancer, he lost his hair and always wore a cap. He did not take it off in church. We moved to the balcony where he would be less conspicuous. (Not wanting to offend anyone from the "old school" of course!) For you it's hats, for me it's women who wear pants to church! I guess old patterns are hard to break, and it is tempting to connect the head to the heart! Guess we all have to cut one another some slack(s)! Blessings to you! Mommapbs |
