GNM - Yes, it is important when we post to identify the words of others. For example, in your reply to my post, you have cut my words and inserted them in your reply, however you failed to identfy them as such. This of course would lead to confusion on the Forum as what I am saying contradicts your position. I wrote: "See Rev 20:12-15. According to God's Word, man is an immortal being. Where he spends eternity is up to him." (Even this might be met with controversy on the Forum, you don't want to reap MY firestorm do you?) I also wrote this: The Apostle Paul expressed what all Christians hope(this is not wishful thinking, but CONFIDENT EXPECTATION) "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." (Please read 2 Cor 5:1-8) I accept God's Truth that it is appointed for men to die once (Heb 9:27)- yes, my body will die if CHrist tarries, and I also accept God's TRUTH thatI WAS DEAD in my sin (Eph 2:1) but Romans 8:10 assures me that my spirit is alive because of the righteousness of Christ. My spirit has been regenerated by the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:5)and I look forward to the regeneration of my body on that Great Day when we will all be changed . . . and we will all see the Truth of God together and in unity. There will be no disagreement or dispute - oh that will be Heaven indeed! How could Jesus have spoken with Moses (Mt 17:3)if he was asleep in the grave? Dead men don't talk . . . but those who are alive in the Spirit do. If, as you say, we are unconscious as in sleep when our bodies die, why would God chose to speak during dreams? (Joseph, Daniel, et al, me included!) As for me, I do not believe that my spirit lies a moldering in the grave awaiting the Ressurrection Day. My spirit will go to be where Jesus is - I don't care if He's in the middle of the desert, on the Moon or at Wal-Mart; where HE IS, there I shall be also. As far as we know from God's Word,(Acts 2:33) Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father. (Stephen even saw Him - Acts 7:56) And where is the Father? (Mt 6:9)Hint, He's not on earth. My body may be left for a time, but I don't expect to remain here! Dare I say the neither of us will be disappointed for we have this Hope . . .(Romans 5:5) mommapbs PS: Can we agree on the salvation that is ours in Christ? If so, then isn't this is all that really matters? |

163 | hinderances to correct understanding | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 86699
Greetings New Creature! You asked:"is it possible for them (the average Christian who doesn't understand doctrine or teaching) to properly live up to the teachings of Christ Jesus?" How does one "properly live up to?" According to Gal 2:20, WHO is doing the living? Jesus said, "Apart from me you can do nothing." (!)John 15:4 As a believer we not only have the Holy Spirit as our guide(John 16:13), but we also have the mind of Christ (1 Cor 2:16) which enables us to understand the deep things of God. We, as the Church have been gifted to build up the body of Christ. I believe that God has given us His Spirit, His Word and His teachers to instruct us in the "way we should go." The responsibility of the individual believer is to be sure that ALL are in agreement; we are to "test the spirits" 1 John 4:1 These are just some observations for you to consider. I too attend a nondenominational church. We have our problems just like any other imperfect assembly of believers, but most importantly we all agree on our individual need for a personal Savior, and Jesus is His name. God bless, mommapbs |

164 | Questions to consider | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 86803
Hey EdB! Thanks for responding . . .after taking his Bible exam this AM, my son announced that he "knew all the questions." I said, "That's great as long as you knew the answers too!" Hopefully, by asking questions, each of us will be able to give a reasonable account of what we believe according to God's Word. Too often we know what we believe (the questions) but we are unable to support them because we don't know where to find the answers in God's Word - you do! Blessings to you sir! mommapbs |

165 | Attitudes or Beattitudes?? | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 87241
Good day to you too! I suspect that if we sought out the reason why our "feathers get ruffled" we might obtain some valuable PERSONAL insight that God would provide in order to conform us to the likeness of His Son. To participate or not - yes, THAT is a good question! I find that if my feelings get ahead of my facts, I'd better reign in my words and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to me about the situation. Of course there have been times when I have gotten into the fray - rather than the Spirit of humilty and love. My heart's desire is for us to be growing in our love for the Lord; to know Him as MORE than just Savior, but to know Him as Lord and Friend. At times I find myself becoming frustrated with some of the discussion, and yet part of this is necessary for us to "work out our salvation" - ie; do I really know WHO I believe and WHY? Have I "tested the spirits" and found THE Spirit? Over and over, God not only confirms His love for me, but He affirms His presence and desire to live through me. I am but a vessel, when used in the Hand of the Master, I am a conduit of His love to others. May this encourage you to allow Him to mold and shape you into the vessel that He desires to use for His glory. mommapbs |

166 | How much time between Ex.4:29 and 12:31? | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 87320
Greetings again! As I read through this portion I found some references to suggest that there was a time interval between the plagues. First of all, for Moses to go and come back to Pharaoh would require time wouldn't it? And then the oftenthe plague that was announced took place the following day. Ex 7:25 - an entire week passed from the time the Lord turned the water of the Nile to blood. Ex 8:10-15 gives an indication of time from when Moses prayed for the Lord to be rid of the frogs and when they actually were gone (piled into heaps and "stinking" would take more than I day I suspect) Ex 8 gnats and flies "appears" to take place within a day of one another. It would seem that there was an interval between the next plague for plague of livestock took place a day after it had been announced Ex 9:5-6. There is no inidication of the time period between this plague and the boils yet look at v7 - how long did it take for Pharaoh's officials to go and see the area of the Israelites and report back to him? Ex 9:8-13 may be a 2 day interval (v18)between the boils and the hail. The plague of Locust took approx. two days (Ex 10:13;18) and the plague of darkness lasted another 3 (Ex 10:22) with a probable day interval in between. In Ex. 12 it is unclear to me if these instructions were followed at this time meaning that there was an interval of 14 days between the plague of darkness and the death of the firstborn. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, I hope that God will bless you as you study His faithfulness to His people. mommapbs |

168 | Does anyone have a good way to explain t | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 87535
Greetings truthfinder. You wrote: "truth dictates that the true God is not omnipresent, for he is spoken of as having a location." Is this the truth of truthfinder or the TRUTH of GOD? My God is indeed omnipresent - I suspect the god you have placed your faith in is limited by your own perceptions. God declares in Jer 23:23-24 "Am I a God who is near," declares the LORD, "And not a God far off? Can a man hide himself in hiding places So I do not see him?" declares the LORD. "Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?" declares the LORD. mommapbs |

Malachi 3:16 "Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, and the LORD gave attention and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the LORD and who esteem His name." I am what you are, a witness. And yes, we are all called to "minister" to one another, but remember it is the LORD who is at work in us! May you know the love and peace that is yours in Christ. mommapbs |

Amen Hank! I have found great comfort in Dt 29:29 - "The secret things of God belong to God" Sometimes He choses to reveal them and other times, God keeps those secrets! As a side note, I remember struggling over a verse and could not understand what it meant. Well, I must have asked God about it and put it out of my mind. But several years, yes years, later the Lord revealed the meaning of that verse FOR me - He even reminded me of my questions about it! Oh how He loves you and me (et al!!) . . .what an awesome God we serve. I like the response you noted which I have paraphrased: "What business is it of yours? Get in line and follow Me!" mommapbs |

Greetings Makarios - Great response. As I considered this post I realized that this is not the only instance where God's Word repeats itself. Perhaps the reason that God choses to say things more than once is to emphasize their importance to/for our lives. I'm glad that this repetition gained the attention of FreeThinker; I pray that he will consider the authority and importance of God's Word for his life as well! Blessings, mommapbs |

175 | Is Jesus God? Who is telling the Truth? | OT general | Mommapbs | 107276
Greetings Ray! Amen, He is the First and the Last - Please forgive my ignorance but I have no idea what the LITV is. I appreciate your passion for God and His pronouns - it does keep Him and us in perspective! I believe that it is important for us as Forum participants to learn to recognize the perversion of Scripture as well as the subtle (and not so subtle) doctrines of man that masquerade as truth. I like what flinkywood observed, one can "learn a lot from bad theology!" Seems so strange and yet so right to be proclaiming WHO Jesus IS tonight: He is not "a-way in a manger," He is THE Way! Merry Christmas Ray! In Christ, mommapbs |

Greetings! Been there, done that . . . isn't it wonderful that we ALL make mistakes? Reminds me that not one of us (IN CHRIST) is "more righteous" than another! Blessings, mommapbs PS: The fix is to cut and past what you wrote into a note that is attached to a post by Tara1. |

Hi - in answer to your posted question, this is how I answer and leave the original question in place. See, I just looked for a previous post you had made and answered you from that point. (You can do this by clicking on the screen name and select "posts" to respond to one.) However, this will not work if the author of the question has not posted before! Hope this helps. mommapbs |

178 | GOLD TEETH FILLINGS/ELVIS IMPERSONATORS? | NT general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 28600
Hi Goshen: Unless you are led by the Holy Spirit to point out deception to your "friend," I would not take it upon myself to look for a "clincher scripture" in rebuking his/her experience. It is the Holy Spirit who is responsible for conviction and correction. Sometimes, He uses others as His instruments, but never on their own authority. I understand your concern, and discernment that something is not "right" here, but my best counsel is to earnestly pray for your friend and this body that they may seek the face of God first. Perhaps all of this came about so that YOU would seek to know God and more about His character! "And we know that God causes all things, (including the situations that you have written about!) work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28 Be comforted that you may be a witness to what Jesus prophesied: "For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect." Matthew 24:24 KJV |

179 | tribulation vs. wrath | NT general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 35439
Greetings! I believe the tribulation that Jesus spoke about in this passage was NOT the TRIBULATION described in the book of The Revelation. Believers have suffered tribulation or troubles just as Jesus promised. This passage is still "pre-wrath." We are in tribulation this very day as we struggle against natural enemies and spiritual powers and authorities. Jesus comforts us by reminding us that HE has overcome the world - sin and death are defeated foes! Praise God! So although we still struggle, our Redeemer is at the door, just waiting for the Father's command to go get His Bride! We should all be looking up expectantly! This often helps in keeping the focus off our temporary trials or "tribulations!" I hope I have clarified my thinking on this for you!Blessings in Jesus!Mommapbs |

180 | tribulation vs. wrath | NT general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 35443
I copied this from an earlier post: We Americans have no concept of famine or true martyrdom, yet many Christians live under persecution and in famine stricken conditions. Certainly there are wars and "rumors of wars" and nations have risen against nation;kingdoms have risen again kingdoms. We have seen "earthquakes in various places" in recent days. Matthew 24:6-7 While these are all "speculative," and by far not all that we could look at as we compare these to the "days of Noah": When Krakatoa erupted, not only was the explosion heard about 2,000 miles away, as the ash circum-navigated the globe, it caused the sun to be darkened and created other atmopsheric abnormalities. An atomic blast conceivably looks like the sky being rolled up like a scroll - and could be described as a shaking of the heavens. What did "scud missles" look like? "Stars falling from the sky?" Or might this also describe the increase of meteor showers and falling space debris we have witnessed? The Gospel was preached to all nations in the fall of 2001. Although we have had the technology to do so, there has never been an opportunity or reason for this until 9/11. If you will recall, Billy Graham presented the Gospel from the National Cathedral which was simultaneously translated and broadcast LIVE throughout the world. As for nations or kingdoms, too often we make these political entities, when in fact, they may be spiritually defined. We have overlooked the possibility of Islam as a conquering "nation." Could this be the rider on the white horse described in Rev 6:2? However, in light of all our suffering in this present life, the Lord comforts us with these words:(v.6) " . . . see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come." |
