141 | Question re: Mary | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 72471
Boo! There are many books written about the Virgin Mary, however, in your quest for Truth, be sure to look to God's Word. Much of what is believed about Mary has its origins in Church tradition rather than Holy Scripture. To me, Mary was the most blessed of women, but she needed a Redeemer just like us. (And recognized this as recorded in Luke 1:47) Mary's response to the Lord (Luke 1:38) is an example of obedience for us all! Blessings to you, mommpabs |

Great post inmyheart! I've come across passages that I have not understood and "in due time" or rather, at the RIGHT time, God clearly revealed their meaning for me! What I find so awesome is the way that God's Word speaks to us personally as individuals. God knows exactly where we are and what we need. HE responds to those needs through His Word, by His Spirit, through circumstances, through prayer and counsel of fellow Christ followers. Blessings, mommapbs PS: you've posted a lot and have yet to tell the Forum about yourself! How about it? |

144 | what is spiritual bondage | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 75018
Greeting Graceful! As I was reading this thread I thought about the message of Galatians. See Gal 3:23 and 4:9 - Is Paul speaking about a form of "spiritual bondage" here? What are your thoughts on this? Blessings - mommapbs
145 | what is spiritual bondage | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 75074
Greetings graceful! You wrote, "Many times believers do come into bondage to putting their faith in their works to be the source of righteousness." I have coined the term "sin of obedience" to express this concept. I believe, as humans, we are (for a myraid of reasons) unable to completely grasp the message of GRACE - our prideful sin nature continually prompts us into wanting to "measure up" or to be validated. Unless we see our validation and worth in the finished work of Chrsit alone, and truly desire to rest only in God's Grace, I believe that we become susceptible to the schemes of the devil that rob us of the abundant life and inherent joy that comes by faith alone. (I think we could go on and on here!) Even in our churches, the message is focused on "doing" rather than letting Christ BE at work in us.( Hence we become addicted to legalism, perfomance Christianity, looking for the blessings rather than the Blessor, ie: if I do this, God will do that.) This, to me, undermines the power of the cross in the life of the believer. These are just some thoughts, but basically, I believe that this is the root of "spiritual" bondage - for it is not Christ who reigns, but the flesh. The Spirit is indeed "in bondage", unable to produce the fruit of Its presence. God is SO patient with us, and OH how He loves you and me! Blessings, mommapbs |

FytRobert, thank you for sharing what God has been doing in your life. The desire to know the will of God is the first order of business for the believer. Just because God directed you to a specific task in the past does not necessarily mean that He intends the same now. The danger here is to "presume" the will of God without actively seeking it. So, I can not give you an answer one way or another, this is between you and God; but, I want to encourage you with this: From "Experiencing God" by Henry Blackaby, we learn that God is always at work and He invites us to join Him. In order to determine God's will, Dr. Blackaby tells us to look for confirmation from the Holy Spirit in these areas: God's Word, through prayer, through circumstances, through other believers. If you don't find unity or agreement in these areas, I would be hesitent to proceed. Remember that an assignment from God is always "God-sized." The urge is there but the ship is not. What is God requiring of you at this time? My advice is not to abandon the idea until God closes the door. Sometimes we are called to wait upon God - HIS timing is everything! Blessings, mommapbs |

Greetings again FyrRobert - my post to you was not meant to discourage you but rather to ENCOURAGE you to seek God's will above all else. If you find that God has laid this project upon your heart, His plans will not be hindered by time tables or anything else. God equips those He calls for every good work! I would not be discouraged in any way if at this particular point in time you have not experienced what I have called "confirmation." There is much to be gained in God's "waiting room." From your posts, it appears that you are a relatively new believer in Jesus. I urge you to join a Bible believing fellowship where you can receive instruction and training. The prinicples that I shared with you in my previous post are so important to grasp, for although it is admirable to want to do good things for the Lord, Scripture is very clear that we must seek to build on the foundation of Christ first.(1 Cor 3:10) As you grow in the Lord, you will learn to recognize His voice speaking to you through His Word, in times of prayer, through circumstances and through the counsel of other Godly men and women God places in your midst. God is faithful in keeping His promises. When we seek Him (His Will) with our whole heart, He will reveal Himself to us. (1 Chron 28:9; Prov 8:17; Jer 29:13) James 5:16 tells us that much is accomplished through the vehicle of prayer. Are others praying WITH you about this desire? Begin here. Secondly, be patient. If this project to distribute Bibles in Malaysia is from the Lord, it WILL be accomplished. Just because we can't discern the details right now does not limit God's ability to accomplish HIS purposes. Don't deprive yourself of the blessing of seeing God's Hand at work by forcing open doors that the Lord wants to open for you! The book I mentioned in my previous post, "Experiencing God" was SO beneficial to me. I highly recommend it to you, however, I believe that this study is best when done in a group setting. "As iron sharpens iron, so does one man sharpen another!" Proverbs 27:17 May God continue to bless your heart and hands as you seek His face. mommapbs |

Greetings Fytrobert! Can two walk together unless they be agreed? (Amos 3:3) God desires to have a love relationship with you - will you agreed to let Him? If so, you are on the right path . . . keep walking with Him. I'll be praying for you. Blessings in Him, mommapbs |

Good Afternoon Robert, several of us are praying for you. First of all, that you will grow in the Lord (as you have surmised is necessary!) Robert, God never "makes fun of us!" He delights in us! God sees us as His children. Some of us are a little more "grown up" but what we will be is not what ANY of us are now! God sees the day when we are ALL mature in Jesus - but that day will be realized on the other side of this earthly existence. As a child do you remember longing for the day when you could do things that your age prevented ie; driving a car? Just as much physical and emotional growth is required for this activity, the deeper activities of our spiritual life require growth too. Just as an infant is fed on milk, so are new believers fed on the Word in the same way (1 Peter 2:2) Don't become impatient or frustrated. God is at work IN YOU to accomplish HIS purposes! (see Eph 2:10). Secondly, my prayer for you is that you will be drawn to God's Word as your source of spiritual food and that God would unite you with those who will be "Jesus in skin" to you and see to your growth and discipline as you come to know the Lord more and more. See Eph 4. God has given you the assurance of His love and forgiveness as demonstrated in the death and resurrection of His Son Jesus, for your salvation from the penalty of sin. God has given you His Holy Spirit to be your Comforter, your Teacher and your Guide. God has given you the peace of His presence to remove fear. God has given you His Word to reveal Himself to you. God has given you the privilege of prayer to commune with Him. God has given you other believers to encourage you in your faith. God has given us these and SO MANY other precious gifts, yet some require our active participation! Robert, are you seeking for fellowship with other believers? The Forum is a great place to explore God's Word with others but it is not a substitute for personal interaction. Blessings, mommapbs |

NGOP - all I can say is, "woe unto those who call evil good . . ." Isa 5:20. Without adding the Harry Potter stories to the mix, don't you think that we have enough situational ethics to deal with? mommapbs |

FytRobert: There are many differing opinions about the use of alcohol - see the search feature! Anything that takes first place or priority in our lives is idolatry. Idolatry is idolatry . . .we just like to give it names . . . but ALL idolatry is offensive to God. We are told to flee from idolatry. 1 COr 10:14 The consumption of alcohol can become a form of idolatry in the life of a believer. This is what we are to avoid. The Christian walk is learning to be free in Christ; but we are not to return to the slavery of "dos and dont's" that some of the more legalistic members of this Forum would like to impose upon you. (read through Galatians!) As you seek to know the One who set you free from the Law, you will find that the Holy Spirit will guide you into a life of intimacy with God. In our relationships with those we love, we strive to do things that will please them or make them happy. SO too the Holy Spirit will work in your life to direct you to things that make the Father happy - here is the win-win you are looking for, for when the Father is happy, you will be too! Blessings in Jesus, mommapbs |

Greetings Taleb! I stumbled upon this web site and would appreciate your comments upon this movement. The address I am sending to you is the main page but please click on the link to baptism in the contents to the left. http://www.graftedin2torah.org/default.htm As I was reading here about the Name of God, it dawned on me to consider how could one call upon God with the Name He gives Moses in Ex 3:14? Comments? |

Thanks Taleb - I do like to investigate on my own, but appreciate the input of others who may "see" things that I do not. My experience has been to discern, what I call the "niggles" of the Spirit. This site has piqued my interest, BUT I'm not quite sure . . . one thing that bothered me was a reference to the 144,000 of Rev and a desire to be included in that number - this of course raises my level of concern, but then again, I only gave the site a brief look see. I appreciate you. Thanks again - I'll be patient. mommapbs |

Greetings Taleb! Thank you for your comments! As I continued to study that site it ocurred to me that there was a "performance issue" at the heart of their theology. Since Jesus set us free from that, why would one ever submit to slavery again?! Your sister in Christ, mommapbs |

160 | What do you believe? | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 85448
SO, what do you believe will happen to you when your body dies? As for me, Christians who are sleeping are those who have become complacent in their relationship with the Lord - not conscious of His abiding presence. And, I don't believe that the Lord's rest is a place to sleep either! I believe that we will be fully aware of His presence at the instant of physical death - we will not be alseep in Him but fully awake! Note that in the story of the Rich man and Lazarus (Luke 16) - one was well aware of his torment and the other was comforted. Our physical bodies may "sleep" in the grave until they are changed.
