141 | Reviled IN the name of Christ? | 1 Pet 4:14 | Mommapbs | 149039
Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Eph 4:30 Ray, would you capitalize "Whom" in this verse? Blessings, mommapbs |

142 | Reviled IN the name of Christ? | 1 Pet 4:14 | Mommapbs | 148909
For John 12:42, where it is translated, "they were not confessing [Him]," how much is the pronoun implied? Could it also be translated, "they were not confessing their belief", or "confessing their faith?" Ray - although v 41 identifies Christ, it seems to me that the pronoun "Him" is necessary - for what good it it to confess belief or faith w/o an object? If we take Jesus out of our faith what do we have? Dead faith. Perhaps we need to be reminded of this and that is why "Him" is emphasized - just a thought. Blessings, mommapbs |

Greetings on this Lord's day Ray! Are you asking about v 14 or 16? The "disciples" were first called Christians at Antioch (Acts 11:26) What is a disciple of Christ - one who follows where led. We follow because we believe in Him, Who He says He is and who He says we are - His brothers - which of course implies a shared family heritage or a blood relationship right? Think about this a bit! To me, a Christian is one who is incarnated with Christ. (Col 1:27) Thos who do not have the Son (1 John 5:12;Romans 8) do not have His Spirit are NOT Christians (sons of God) - even though they may call themselves as such. God knows who are His. Only those who are indwelt by the Spirit of the living Lord Jesus can truly be reviled for that name. Blessings, mommapbs |

147 | How to "win the world" ? | Bible general Archive 2 | Mommapbs | 148705
Greetings Thy Will - does a person have to walk into a church building to feel the power, love, and joy of the Holy Spirit? Does the Holy Spirit reside in a church building? In my opinion and experience, there are many churches and individuals with "Icabod" over their doors and hearts. Indeed the place will be "Christ-like" if Jesus is "at home" in the hearts of the individuals worshipping there. See Hank's post 105330 Blessings, mommapbs |

Thanks Doc - I appreciate your prayers so much. I have found that it is not my faith but the faithfulness of God that sustains me! Blessings, mommapbs |

149 | Was this promise fulfilled? | Josh 1:4 | Mommapbs | 148604
Searcher - I wrote a reponse but lost it somehow. In noting the prophetic references of Eze and Jer, and taking into account Angel's observations, does it appear that God will bring this promise about Himself in the end? (Am I stretching too much on this one to suggest Gal 4:30?)Might this be part of God's plan that we see unfolding in the Middle East? mommapbs |

150 | Was this promise fulfilled? | Josh 1:4 | Mommapbs | 148584
Greetings Nobel - yes, we can't stand still and expect to receive what necessitates action on our part. The action of belief (in the Lord) brings pleasure to God (Heb 11:6). Does lack of action (not taking what was promised) indicate a lack of belief here for Israel? (As a man thinks in himself, so is he Pr 23:7) See the far reaching consequences of this today . . . and yet, since God keeps His promises; He is faithful to all He has made, what might we expect to see today and in the future in this part of the globe? imho, the war in Iraq is much more than a response to terror or oil. Although Paul tells us (Gal 4:24) that it is of a spiritual nature, the promise of Gal 4:30 may apply here to a degree too. Blessings, trish (mommapbs) |

Ok Searcher it may be a loooooooooonnngg stretch, but as mothers would say to their infants as they reached out, "Stretch and grow!" I hope you don't see all stretching as a bad thing! Sometimes we have to stretch to see if we can't reach something too. mommapbs |

Kalos, so is Paul saying that by his not asking the church for support, he was wrong? What is he driving at here? mommapbs |

155 | What is wrong? | 2 Cor 12:13 | Mommapbs | 148432
Searcher, thank you for asking, things are very difficult right now as we try to sort through all the stuff "death" leaves in its wake. Many unanswered questions, anger, regrets, sadness, uncertainty . . . my faith wavers, to be sure, but I haved learned that it is the faithfulness of God that sustains. In my church experience, the local church has sent out missionaries and supported them from the general fund as well as from individuals in the congregation. Is it wrong to assume that those who receive the benefit of this ministry or mission should not join in that support at some point also? Was Paul being, as Steve suggests, sarcastic here? Is sarcasm ever edifying? Did Jesus use sarcasm - if so, to what purpose? I'm still not quite sure what Paul was asking forgiveness for here. mommapbs |

157 | Significance of three pecks? | Matt 13:33 | Mommapbs | 148094
Kalos, I just asked a simple question about the significance of three pecks or measures and now a discourse on numerology and the Kabbala (which I am not at all familiar with - should I be?) I thought that SBF was a place I could ask a sincere question without having my motives or whatever questioned, criticized or dismissed. As you can probably read here, I am a tad bit offended. mommapbs |

158 | Significance of three pecks? | Matt 13:33 | Mommapbs | 148060
Searcher56 - imo, this post is confusing. Are you saying that God attaches no significance to His words, even words that are numbers? mommapbs |

160 | The cross of Christ? | 2 Cor 4:10 | Mommapbs | 147755
Greetings BradK - perhaps Romans 8 is a good place to consider this verse - I suspect that Satan would keep us ignorant of the power of the cross to free us from the power of sin - daily! In Christ, mommapbs |
