101 | Is our dress a reflection of our heart? | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 39132
Greetings CDBJ! I'm sorry I didn't elaborate on our situation - God absolutely provided a miraculous healing of our son. It was in '94 (he was 13 at the time) that he was dx with a stage 4 non-Hodgkins lymphoma and after only 3 months of treatment, he was in complete remission. He had to endure two years of chemo. I had to "endure" my doubt and lack of faith in God to do as He promised. Read Psalm 41. God gave me this passage the night (2 am. Jan 26, 1994) before we even knew the exact diagnosis! Our God is soooooooooooo amazing! Makes worrying about what to wear or not to wear a little insignificant doesn't it? Believe me, life changed and we really came to understand the value and necessity of livng life one day at a time! Blessings in Jesus! Mommapbs |

102 | HOW COULD JESUS BE A DESCENDANT OF DAVID | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 39394
Greetings JdthCstl: You wrote:"If you read the scriptures in Luke, you will know, that the holy spirit incarnated in the body of the baby Jesus. He grew up to be a man died, and went to heaven. You also must realize that prior to this event, the holy spirit had other incarnations. A revelation of two of his incarnations was reveal to Peter, James, and John in Luke 9:32" Jesus Christ is the ONLY BEGOTTEN SON of the Father. (John 3:16)There was only one incarnation. In Scripture we see several "theophanies" but only ONE incarnation - God entering humanity - "for the Child who has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit." Matthew 1:20. In this account of the Transfiguration of Jesus, the two men are identified as Moses and Elijah. Both of these were men, born of earthly fathers and mothers. No where does Scripture indicate the these were the product of the Holy Spirit's incarnation! Also, in your post you left out the key element of Christianity - when Jesus died, He was resurrected, THEN He was taken into Heaven. The fact of the resurrection is the confident expectation of every believer! Praise be to God for His matchless Gift of Jesus to us! Mommapbs |

103 | Catholic and Mary, what's the deal | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 48067
Greetings inmyheart ! Do check out the other replies on this thread! I would bring this Scripture to your attention as well as what has been suggested: And Mary said:"My soul exalts the Lord,And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior. Luke 1:46-47 Obviously, Mary KNEW she needed a Savior too! Blessings, mommapbs |

Greetings Emmaus! I checked out that discussion - too much for me to digest at this hour! But I did want to note that the first reference to the Queen of Heaven is in the Old Testament beginning at Jer. 7:18. I doubt that you would ever want to ascribe Mary, the mother of Jesus with this title. She was a Babylonian goddess that Israel had chosen to worship. I believe that the "Queen of Heaven" could represent the conglomerate of false doctrine that has run rampant in the world just as Jesus warned us about in Mt 24:4 . . . Reading in conjunction with many passages in The Revelation, it appears that this portrayal of heresey could also be the woman riding the beast Rev 17:3. Could she further reveal herself when she asserts that she is a "queen" and not a widow?(Rev 18:7) She needs no King or Husband to reign! We would all do well to heed this warning issued in Rev 18:4 - "Come out of her, my people, so that you will not participate in her sins and receive of her plagues;" I believe we must carefully examine the Scriptures! For if the Israelites, who had the very visible presence of God in their midst, could fall into idolatry, what makes us think that we are less vunerable? We must be discerning to differentiate between teachings of men and the teachings of the Holy Spirit through the Word of God. "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires." 2 Tim 4:3 God's Word tell us to hold fast to the teachings of Jesus. Mary, Jesus' own mother agreed with God when she told the servants at the wedding of Cana: "Do as HE says!" John 2:5 "If you love Me, you will keep My commandments." John 14:15 But bear in mind that it is Jesus who bids US to obey - not Mary! Blessings my brother! Mommapbs |

Great observation Steve! To me, all this "carnage" is a drop in the bucket when compared the the great winepress of God's wrath that is yet to be poured out upon the enemies of God! Blessings, Mommapbs |

William, punishment is for UNBELIEVERS. We are not in for a "doosey" of a punishment, tribulation perhaps, but God assures us in 1 John 4:19 and Romans 8:1 that we are not to fear any condemnation when we belong to Jesus! Blessings, Mommapbs |

Greetings William, you wrote "I may or may not be chosen to avoid His punishment," The good news of the Gospel is that Jesus took the punishment of God for us. And all who have accepted His free gift of salvation that comes through faith in HIS finished work (HE paid the penalty, HH was punished for OUR sins!)are assured that they will not experience the WRATH of God. For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 1 Thess 5:9 Do a search on the word "wrath" in the New Testament for similar Scriptures. Yes, I agree that the world will undergo a terrible time of punishment and it is horrifying to consider that those I love will be the recipients of God's Wrath, but it is as you said, "their choice." It is OUR responsibility to make them aware that of what is to come and that they do have a door of opportunity standing open for them to repent and accept Jesus as their Savior! 109 | Mark 16:16 what does it say? | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 50715
Greetings Hank! Boy am I tired of this thread. I had initally thought about a little humor here too but reading the passage linked me to the conversion of the Gentiles in Acts so I thought you'd like to read the post I sent to Grace and Truth on this subject! Blessings on your day! Mommapbs I posted to Grace and Truth: Let's not leave out the following verses: "These signs will accompany those who BELIEVE (emphasis mine): they will cast out demons in My name;, and they will speak in new languages. They will be able to handle snakes with safety, and if they drink anything poisonous, it won't hurt them. They will be able to place their hands on the sick an heal them." Mark 16:17-18 (NLT) AND . . . "the disciples went everywhere and preached, and the Lord worked with them, confirming what they said by many miraculous signs." Mark 16:20 (NLT) Notice that this passage says they PREACHED; it doesn't say they BAPTIZED - so what might we conclude is necessary? ONLY BELIEF! (Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the WORD OF GOD!) So, Grace and Truth, if these signs accompany those who believe and are baptized, how do we account for the Gentiles that Peter preached to who recieved the Holy Spirit upon their BELIEF and spoke in tongues BEFORE THEY WERE BAPTIZED with water?? See Acts 10: 44-48. "Peter asked, 'Can anyone object to their (the Gentiles) being baptized, NOW that they have recieved the Holy Spirit just as we did?'" Acts 10:47. (NLT) |

Raven - I posed a similar post to Grace and Truth and since you appear to be like-minded I will respond to you as well with this observation: I don't think you would find support from the Apostle Peter. Read Acts 10:34-48. Pay close attention to verse 47. Note that the Gentiles Heard the Word and as a response to their belief, the Holy Spirit was given and received as recognized by His manifestation (they were speaking in tongues). So, were they SAVED by God through the power of the Holy Spirit or through the baptismal waters? Since the Holy Spirit is the deposit that guarantees our redemption (2 Cor 1:22) obviously, God credited the righteousness of Christ PRIOR to baptism here! So when did God change the order of His process? |

Greetings! Yes! AMEN! However, the contention has surrounded WATER baptism! I agree that we are baptized into Christ by the Holy Spirit at the moment of belief - this is all DONE BY GOD, lest anyone should boast!(Eph 2:8-9) I appreciated your comments about the baptism of fire! No water of baptism will be able to extinguish the wrath of God upon those who reject Him! Faith in Jesus is the ONLY fire escape! Blessings, Mommapbs |

Your challenged: "SHOW US IN THE BOOK OF ACTS WHERE SOMEONE WENT MORE THAN ONE HOUR AFTER BELIEVING THE WORD, AND WAS NOT BAPTIZED! JUST ONE PERSON!" Here is one person, and quite a significant one at that! After his encounter with the Lord, Saul(Paul) was in Damascus for THREE DAYS (ACTS 9:9) prior to being baptized. See Acts 17:34. Dionysius and Damaris became believers, (and others) but there is no mention of their being water baptized. Now, please answer the question Tim Moran asked of you! |

Addendum: 'AND IT SHALL BE THAT EVERYONE WHO CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.' Acts 2:21 According to the testimony of Paul in Acts 22:10 -When Jesus identified Himself, Paul replied, 'What shall I do, Lord?' Note carefully the Lord's answer! "And the Lord said to me, 'Get up and go on into Damascus, and there you will be told of all that has been appointed for you to do.'" Paul has received the Lord and asks HIM what to do. Now if WATER BAPTISM was necessary for salvation, don't you think that Jesus would have commanded that right here? |

Greetings Tim! Thought you'd be interested in the latest challenge from Grace and Truth - to provide an example of just one person who believed the Word and was not baptized within one hour - Saul received the Lord on the road to Damascus and he waited THREE days prior to his immersion. Also I included this addendum which I found interesting: Addendum: 'AND IT SHALL BE THAT EVERYONE WHO CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.' Acts 2:21 According to the testimony of Paul in Acts 22:10 -When Jesus identified Himself, Paul replied, 'What shall I do, Lord?' Note carefully the Lord's answer! Thanks for all your input on this thread. I too am anxiously awaiting an answer to YOUR question! Blessings, Mommapbs |

Greetings Grace and Truth: As you requested, "show me someone who believed the gospel and was not baptized in the same hour?" Acts 17:34 reports: "But some men joined him and believed, among whom also were Dionysius the Areopagite and a woman named Damaris and others with them" Lo and behold! Belief but NO baptism is mentioned . . . Now was this another one of those "special cases" of salvation without baptism that you mentioned in another post? May I remind you that the Lord does not show any favoritism or partiality(Romans 2:11, Gal 2:6). I guess that means that He is willing to accept us both IN CHRIST, even with our difference of opinions! Blessings, Mommapbs |
