82 | Why do we make it so complicated? | NT general Archive 1 | New Creature | 164490
Allow me to paint a senario A man repents and exercises faith in Christ Jesus, and immediately phones the local church, and informs the minister, that he desires to become baptized. The minister says: We are having a baptismal service this evening at 6:30 PM. If you come over this evening, we will baptize you. So this man gets dressed, and heads over to the church to be on time for the service. On his way, he gets in an automobile accident and is killed. You say, oh oh, he left out part of the salvation equation. The question is: Since he never got baptized, will he be sent off to eternal condemnation? NC |

83 | definition of a hypocrite | NT general Archive 1 | New Creature | 182266
The Dictionary defines the word "hypocrite" as a person who pretends to have desirable or publicly approved attitudes, beliefs, or practices which he does not actually possess. According to Christ, the sin of hypocrisy has to with honoring God with "lip service" while the heart remains far away from God. |

84 | Luke 23:43....TIME? | NT general Archive 1 | New Creature | 182945
Putting a comma after the word "today" is what the Jehovah Witnesses did in their New World Translation. But from my understanding the comma should properly be placed before the word "today" see partial commentary below. Luke 23:43 - To-day shalt thou be with me in paradise - Marcion and the Manichees are reported to have left this verse out of their copies of this evangelist. This saying of our Lord is justly considered as a strong proof of the immateriality of the soul; and it is no wonder that those who have embraced the contrary opinion should endeavor to explain away this meaning. In order to do this, a comma is placed after óçìåñïí, to-day, and then our Lord is supposed to have meant, “Thou shalt be with me after the resurrection I tell thee this, To-Day.” I am sorry to find men of great learning and abilities attempting to support this most feeble and worthless criticism. Such support a good cause cannot need; and, in my opinion, even a bad cause must be discredited by it. (Adam Clarke Commentary) NC |

87 | Help in studying and reading bible | Gen 1:1 | New Creature | 123842
Greetings Priscellia: I have found the best way to read the Bible is: 1) Make sure your awake enough and not drowsy. It's always best to read the Bible eariler in the day, before the day has worn you down and you are tired. You can't concentrate as well when your sleepy. 2) Then get alone with God in a quite place, where it is unlikely to cause any interuptions or distractions. 3) Thirdly pray. (While this is last on my list, I believe it is first in importance. You could pray something like this: Lord; Thank you that Your word is true, and that "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." Apart from your Holy Spirit guiding me in Your word, I will never be able to understand it. Help me to remove any distractions in my life, that would hinder me from giving full and undivided attention to Your word. I want to be able to understand Your word so that I may be able to hear from You, and understand what Your will is for my life. I now trust that the Holy Spirit is able to guide and lead me into all the truth You have made available to me. And then give me understanding in how I should apply to my daily life. In the precious name of Thy Son Jesus, Amen Next allow the Holy Spirit to guide you as to what Scripture you should read. I have found that this is a better method that any programed reading plan. When I personally first received Christ into my heart, I first read John's Gospel, and Proverbs from the Old Testament, Next it was on to Matthew, and then Romans, Psalms and then the whole Bible. But I wouldn't suggest someone begin reading in books such as Revelations or Leviticus, those can be very difficult for new believers. So what are you waiting for? 89 | evolution and the bible | Gen 1:21 | New Creature | 167989
We have to define what you mean by evolution. If by evolution you mean macro-evolution, (the change of one species into a different species, then no. A horse cannot become a sheep etc. that would be macro-evolution which doesn't happen However, if you are thinking of micro-evolution, (variations among species) such as the many varieties of dogs, then yes. While there are many varieties of dogs, they are still dogs. Dogs never cross the species barrier. A dog cannot become a horse or anything but a dog. 90 | in GEN.1:26 who is GOD talking to? | Gen 1:26 | New Creature | 97971
lisakb And God said, Let us The plural word (Elohiym) is used here; and the most logical understanding of it is that of seeing in it a foreshadowing of the doctrine of the Trinity revealed ages afterward in the N.T. Such views as making it like an editorial we, or the majesterial plural, or as an inclusion of angelic hosts or other heavenly beings are totally inadequate. It cannot be believed that God discussed the creation with the angels and included them as participants in His decision to create man. John 1:1, which affirms that the Word was God, and in the beginning with God, and that without Him there was nothing made that hath been made, supports the thought that both Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit (revealed in Gen. 1:2 as active in the creation) should be understood as included in us and our here. Thus, it appears from the very beginning that God is represented as a compound unity. Coffman Commentaries on the Old and New Testament New Creature |

91 | Why did GOD give us free will? | Gen 1:27 | New Creature | 118443
DBrooks; "By giving humans freedom of will, the Creator has chosen to limit His own power. He risked the daring experiment of giving us the freedom to make good or bad decisions, to live decent or evil lives, because God does not want the forced obedience of slaves. Instead, He covets the voluntary love and obedience of sons who love Him for Himself...." Catherine Marshall, Beyond Our Selves [1961] "God will not violate human freedom. He has created a race of people to make choices. God did not create fleshly robots or mechanical beings over which He has complete control. Why doesn’t God just make me good? The answer is: that wouldn’t be goodness, it would be slavery. And God isn’t interested in slaves but in sons and daughters. God will not overpower us into goodness; He can and does work through every possible means to get our attention to call us, to woo us and win us. But He will never ravish us or violate us as persons." (unknown source) God desires that the people He loves and created, voluntarily choose to love Him in return. Therefore, He created them with freedom of choice. Blessings New Creature |

93 | who are the sons of God? | Gen 6:2 | New Creature | 55444
Dear teragram - My understanding of this verse is as follows. "the sons of God" in this verse are those who are the redeemed family of God. Believers, or those of the household of faith. "the daughters of men" refers to those from among the unbelieving pagan peoples, not of the household of those who have faith and believe. What was happening is believers were inter-marrying with unbelievers, and I think God intended that believers marry only other believers. Many pagan, unbelieving women that married Solomon eventually turned his heart away from the Lord. This is the danger of believers inter-marrying with unbelievers. Thats my thoughts on this verse God bless New Creature |

94 | can someone explain Gen 6:2? | Gen 6:2 | New Creature | 91654
what is being referred to as "sons of God" in the verse in question, simply means those who were from the Godly line of Seth. The "daughters of men" is in reference to those who were from the ungodly line of Cain who murdered Abel. New Creature |

95 | Who are the sons of God in Genesis 6:2? | Gen 6:2 | New Creature | 108046
Since angelic beings cannot pro-create, and since they themselves remain the same in number, the possiblity that they had sexual relations with humans would be quite impossible. The most common sense answer would be the first answer that you alluded to in your question. It would merely be referring to intermingling of the godly seed of human beings with the ungodly seed of humans, therefore contaminating the godly line. Shalom New Creature |

96 | angelic beings pro-create or not? | Gen 6:2 | New Creature | 108095
As far as I know there is not a single instance given in scripture where angelic beings ever pro-created with humans, let alone others of their own kind. I therefore must conclude that angelic beings were not created with the capacity to pro-create. Also you mentioned the account in Gen. 19 where angelic beings entered Lots house. The important thing to see in that Biblical account is, that it was the men of Sodom who saw the angelic beings, who had taken on human form and likeness, and it was the men of Sodom that wanted to have the angelic beings come out of Lots house so that they (the men of Sodom) might know them in some sort of personal way. No where does the text say that it was the angelic beings that desired to have sexual contact with the men of Sodom. I do however agree with you that angelic beings can take on human form, but that doesn't mean they are capable of pro-creation. The number of angels themselves have remained constant throughout their existance. Even the following text from the New Testament gives distinction between humans and angelic beings. Mattthew 22:30 For in the resurrection they (referring to humans) neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven. Shalom New Creature |

97 | What do the 120 years pertain to? | Gen 6:3 | New Creature | 56038
The 120 years merely pertains to how long it would be before God would send the flood waters upon the earth.
98 | when te sons of God came | Gen 6:4 | New Creature | 48641
"sons of God" in that text refers to believers. as you continue reading that verse you will see mentioned "the daughters of men" the "daughters of men" are the unbelieving unsaved. What was happening was that the believers were marrying unbelievers. God's intention is that believers marry believers, not unbelievers I personally believe many people try to make this portion of Scripture more difficult than God intended it to be, by complicating it. |

99 | What was Noah's wife's name? | Gen 7:7 | New Creature | 140710
The extra-Biblical book of Jasher says this: and Noah went and took a wife, and he chose Naamah the daughter of Enoch, and she was five hundred and eighty years old. And Noah was four hundred and ninety-eight old when he took Naamah for a wife. (Jasher 5:15-16) I advise caution however on accepting anyting from extra-Biblical materials as being absolute truth, even though it may possibly be true. We can't say for sure whether or not this was her name. Blessings New Creature |

100 | Did Shem exit the Ark at 98, outlv Abrm? | Gen 11:10 | New Creature | 140588
I find this very important and much overlooked From what can be learned from Bibical chronology, one can find that Shem, the son of Noah lived 600 years. The first 100 years of his life were spent before the flood, and then Shem continued living 500 years after the flood had passed. Also by following Bibical years, I find that Shem outlived Abraham, and Shem was alive even in Isaac and Jacob's days. What makes this so intresting, is the fact that Shem was one of only 8 people that witnessed the ark being built, the ungodliness of the human race before the flood, the taking of all the animals aboard the ark two by two, the rains descending until everyone that was not aboard the ark perished from the face of the earth. It must have been truly amazing to people like Abraham, and others to hear directly from Shem, the account of how the ark was built, about how all those species of animals and their food was taken aboard the ark. And to hear Shem speak about the cries of the ungodly people who drowned in the flood. And then, how after the flood, they began to repopulate the earth. Wouldn't it have been wonderful, if we would be able to read a more detailed account of what happened before, during and after the flood from people like Abraham and others who probably heard about it first hand from Shem himself. Maybe the reason why God had Shem, the Antediluvial patriarch continue to live 500 years even after the flood had passed. was so the post-flood people could learn in detail about the flood directly from only one of 8 survivors of the flood.
