Don't read when you feel a bit tired. You need to be wide awake. Take the phone off the hook Get alone in a quiet place, where the possibilty of any distraction is removed. Pray for the Holy Spirit to guide you in your understanding of what you read. Read slowly and deliberately. Re-reading verses you don't understand. At the very first hint that you begin to get drousy or tired put it down. read your Bible often |

praying is something those who are already heaven bound do. We don't pray to become saved, or stay saved, we pray because we have been saved. Faith is the key to heaven.

6 | Heaven helps those who help themselves. | Bible general Archive 3 | New Creature | 180936
UncleCnn. That statement cannot be found anywhere in the Bible. Samuel Smiles (1812-1904) published the first self-consciously personal-development "self-help" book — entitled "Self-Help" — in 1859. Its opening sentence- "Heaven helps those who help themselves", provides a variation of "God helps them that help themselves", the oft-quoted maxim that also appeared previously in Benjamin Franklin's Poor Richard's Almanac (1733 - 1758). 7 | Racial Marriage, yes or no | Bible general Archive 3 | New Creature | 181065
Hi Rancan From my current understanding of Scripture, there are no restrictions against marrying across races. Boaz a Hebrew married Ruth the Moabite, through whom came King David and Jesus our Lord and Savior The only restrictions in marriage I see is that believers shouldn't marry unbelievers Blessings NC |

8 | Racial Marriage, is it okay or not? | Bible general Archive 3 | New Creature | 181077
Actually there is only one race of people, and that is the human race. Red, yellow, black, or white, they are all precious in God's sight. Once again the only restrictions I see in Scripture is that believers shouldn't marry unbelievers |

We all have the same first parents Adam and Eve. The whole human race, not races came from those two. |

Dear Mommapbs: You may find the following article interesting. The American Church Calling a church by its proper name has gone out of style. In its place are Christian Centers, Family Worship Centers, Assemblies and Fellowships. Some churches, including old historic ones, have changed their name to one of these "seeker sensitive" names. Sadly, the church is taking lessons from the marketplace. Repackage, rename, "new and improved", are all ideas that the church has adopted enthusiastically. Even those congregations that have kept the name church have prefaced it with other feel-good words: Community Church or Family Church. One would think that communities or families were suddenly welcome in church! What a novel idea! A new expression has also started showing up on church signs and banners: Worship Celebrations. One would suppose that they are talking about their morning service, particularly the singing part of it. First, it may surprise some of the participants of these celebrations that music is not found in the definition of worship. Worship means respect and reverence offered to God. Reverence - now there's something hard to find in a church service! There need not be one note of music for true worship. True worship for the Christian is an everyday occurrence. While we can certainly appreciate and be thankful for what Christ has done for us, one has to wonder what most American churches have to celebrate. The American Church has frittered away its opportunities and left America and its culture to the devil. The ugliness of an increasingly pagan society is all around us, even in rural communities. Celebrate? Better yet, Repent! One large local church, in what used to be a holiness denomination, has this in their yellow pages ad: Upbeat, Exciting Music Uplifting, Friendly Atmosphere Connected - A Show for Generation X Upbeat, Exciting Music - A direct appeal to the flesh. Translations: No stuffy hymns of the church written by men and women of God, some who paid a very high price, even their lives, to serve Christ. Uplifting, Friendly Atmosphere - We will feed your self-esteem. Isn't it hard to point out to someone that they are a sinner in such a place? This could permanently damage their self-esteem! Connected - A Show for Generation X - At least they finally called it what it is - a show. Many church have come exactly that - a show. How will we entertain them next? Oh Lord, deliver us from the frivolity of our American churches! The above article can be found at: http://www.onemethodist.com/ In His service New Creature |

16 | Receiving Christ - Works? | Bible general Archive 2 | New Creature | 93020
Dear Huron Try the following verse which speaks of God's provision of grace which is to be received. What God has provided, must individually be appropriated. Romans 5:17 For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ. 17 | Inability To Fully Understand God | Bible general Archive 2 | New Creature | 96638
Tom Here are some verses that address your question no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end. Ecclesiastes 3:11 I beheld all the work of God, that a man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun, because, though a man labor to seek it out, yet he shall not find it; yea further, though a wise man think to know it, yet shall he not be able to find it. Ecclesiastes 8:17 There is no searching of his understanding. Isaiah 40:28 My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord... my ways are higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgements, and his ways past finding out! Romans 11:33 Grace to you New Creature |

19 | Will suicide condem my soul to hell? | Bible general Archive 2 | New Creature | 101466
Scott My personal conviction is as follows: Since God's word says, "Thou shalt not kill" Exodus 20:13, then the killing of ones self by any form or method of suicide is self murder. I personnaly wouldn't want to committ suicide to find out later (in the next life) that the last act I committed in life was an act that God was displeased with. While we are living God gives us living grace, especially in difficult moments When it comes time for us to die, then God will likewise provide dying grace. But our times our in His hands, not ours. If you, or someone you know is considering suicide, I would reconsider, and not follow through with any attempts to KILL ones self. New Creature |

Dear John Reformed Consider the following text Then Jeremiah spoke to all the officials and to all the people, saying, "The Lord sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that you have heard. Now therefore amend your ways and your deeds, and obey the voice of the Lord your God; and the Lord will change His mind about the misfortune which He has pronounced against you."
