101 | So is the book of Romans 4 a contraditio | Gen 12:1 | New Creature | 57491
The Bible does not contradict itself. Therefore seeming contradictions, come from our misunderstanding of scripture. Titus 3:8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men. "Now I know that there are some who will insist that works and obedience are good but that they are not essential. They argue that God's favor can only be gained through faith. While it is certainly true that a right relationship with God comes only through faith, it does not come through the kind of faith which is barren. Genuine faith stimulates those who possess it to obedience. If yours does not, it is thereby called into serious question." (source unknown) "Only he who believes is obedient. Only he who is obedient, believes." (Bonhoeffer) "Brethren, I would point out that obedience is taught throughout the entire Bible and that true obedience is one of the toughest requirements of the Christian life. Apart from obedience, there can be no salvation, for salvation without obedience is a self-contradictory impossibility." -- A.W. Tozer, I Call it Heresy "a living faith will be an obedient faith" (Spurgeon) "obedience to the will of God is the ultimate test of our love for God, and the only true response to His love for us." (source unknown) Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he it is who loves me. (John 14:21,23) If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love (John 15:10) James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. Luke 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Mt 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven |

103 | What does the Bible say about tatoos and | Lev 19:28 | New Creature | 95388
pillywiggins The following verse from the Old Testament could possibly be used to address the tatoo issue Lev. 19:28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD. Also there are numerous mention of earrings in the Bible. Whether or not they had pierced ears or were of the clamp on type is unknown to me. Ex 32:2 And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me. Grace to you New Creature |

105 | Is it wrong to get a tatoo? | Lev 19:28 | New Creature | 153455
Personally, I never received a tattoo nor ever desired one. The following Scriptures spoke to me personally telling me that I shouldn't get any tattoos You are not to make gashes on your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves; I am the LORD. (Lev. 19:28 HCSB) 1 Cor. 6:19 Or know ye not that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which ye have from God? and ye are not your own; 1 Cor. 6:20 for ye were bought with a price: glorify God therefore in your body. (ASV) I consider my body to be the temple in which the Holy Spirit resides, therefore if my body is to be His temple, then I should not defile it by putting unnatural markings on it. The only marks on my body are scars. I want to keep this temple pure for His glory. Thats my two-cents worth |

106 | body piercings and why not | Lev 19:28 | New Creature | 186020
For me personally, if God wanted me to have body piercings then He would have created me with a bunch of extra holes in strange places on my flesh where I could hang ornamental jewlery. The fact that I didn't come eqipped by God with all these extra holes, is ample indication and proof for me that God didn't want me to have a stud in my tongue, rings in my eye-brows, naval area, lips, nose, breasts or mid extremities. Besides I see it as wasteful spending on unnecessary ormanents to decorate this fleshy body, for the main purpose of drawing attention to ones self. I want my life and my body to point to Christ not self. Thats my personal two-cents on piercings. |

108 | Why is tithing yet preached today? | Lev 27:30 | New Creature | 94626
Dear sparkman Let me answer your question with a question. If no one tithed, then how would you expect a preacher to live, raise his family, feed, and clothe them. etc. etc? Would you prefer that he find a secular employment? Scripture says: 1 Cor. 9:14 Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel. 2 Cor. 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. From my understanding of Scriptures, (and I have searched the entire Bible) nothing seems to indicate to me that interracial dating or marrying is against the Bible. What I see in the Bible is that believers should not inter-marry with non-believers. Believers should marry believers. Shalom New Creature |

110 | "...an insult to your infallibility"? | Num 28:11 | New Creature | 97492
Radioman I am of the opinion that the Bible is the standard by which commentaries and footnotes should be weighed. I think we are all aware that while commentaries and footnotes can be helpful at times, they can also mislead at other times. Some commentary writters have even twisted certain portions of Scripture to attempt to make it agree with their denomination's theology. Thats why even commentary author's are found to be in disagreement with each other. So which commentary should we believe? We need to be discerning! "It is a dangerous and costly practice to consult men every time we reach a dark spot in the Scriptures. We do not overlook the importance of the gift of teaching to the Church, but we do warn against the habit of taking by blind faith the opinions of men - even good men. A few minutes of earnest prayer will often give more light than hours of reading the commentaries. The best rule is: Go to God first about the meaning of any text. Then consult the teachers. They may have found a grain of wheat you had overlooked." (Source unknown) your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. 1 Cor. 2:5 1 Cor. 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 111 | Santa Clause or Jesus Christ? or both? | Deut 5:6 | New Creature | 128384
hello jalanlambert Below I have attached an article I found quite a few years ago. Just thought I would post it, so you and others can enjoy it. "Why JESUS IS BETTER THAN SANTA CLAUS" Santa Lives at the North Pole... JESUS is everywhere. Santa rides in a sleigh... JESUS rides on the wind and walks on the water. Santa comes but once a year... JESUS is an ever present help. Santa fills your stockings with goodies... JESUS supplies all your needs. Santa comes down your chimney uninvited... JESUS stands at your door and knocks, and then enters you heart. You have to wait in line to see Santa... JESUS is as close as the mention of His name. Santa lets you sit on his lap... JESUS lets you rest in His arms. Santa doesn't know your name, all he can say is "Hi little boy or girl, what's your name?" JESUS knew our name before we did. Not only does He know our name, He knows our address too. He knows our history and future and He even knows how many hairs are on our heads. Santa has a belly like a bowl full of jelly... JESUS has a heart full of love. All Santa can offer is HO HO HO... JESUS offers health, help, and hope. Santa says "you better not cry"... JESUS says "Cast all your cares on me for I care for you." Santa's little helpers make toys... JESUS makes new life, mends wounded hearts, repairs broken homes and builds mansions. Santa may make you chuckle but... JESUS gives you joy that is your strength. While Santa puts gifts under your tree... JESUS became our gift and died on the tree. Neat, huh? |

113 | will we die if we charge interest? | Deut 23:20 | New Creature | 47076
Basically a Christian brother or sister is not to charge interest to another Christian brother or sister. We are not to get rich or make a profit off of our brothers and sisters in the Lord. Banks are non-Christian organizations, and we cannot expect secular institutions to follow Bibical principles. The Bible principles are written as a guide to believers, not unbelievers. |

One possible reason, is because if God merely created beings that had no freedom of choice, then what He would have created would be robots, and I don't think robots can willingly love God in return. God wanted to create beings that would willingly love and obey Him in return.
115 | When were we a Christian Nation? | 2 Chr 7:14 | New Creature | 107886
Historical quotes to consider The celebrated compact made by the Pilgrims in the Mayflower, 1620, recites: "Having undertaken for the Glory of God and Advancement of the Christian Faith, and the Honour of our King and Country, a Voyage to plant the first Colony in the northern Parts of Virginia; Do by these Presents, solemnly and mutually, in the Presence of God and one another, covenant and combine ourselves together into a civil Body Politick." "It can not be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ." Patrick Henry "... Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers." John Jay first Chief Justice to the U.S. Supreme Court "Our laws and our institutions must necessarily be based upon the teachings of the Redeemer of mankind. It is impossible that it should be otherwise; and in this sense and to this extent, our civilization and our institutions are emphatically Christian." "No purpose of action against religion can be imputed to any legislation (State or National) because this is a religious people ... this is a Christian nation." United Sates Supreme Court - 1892 One of our more liberal Supreme Court chief justices, Earl Warren, left no doubt about what he believed in 1954: "I believe no one can read the history of our country without realizing that the Good Book and the spirit of the Savior have from the beginning been our guiding geniuses ... Whether we look to the first Charter of Virginia ... or to the Charter of New England ... or to the Charter of Massachusetts Bay ... or to the Fundamental Orders of Connecticut ... the same objective is present ... a Christian land governed by Christian principles. I believe the entire Bill of Rights came into being because of the knowledge our forefathers had of the Bible and their belief in it: freedom of belief, of expression, of assembly, of petition, the dignity of the individual, the sanctity of the home, equal justice under law, and the reservation of powers to the people ... I like to believe we are living today in the spirit of the Christian religion. I like also to believe that as long as we do so, no great harm can come to our country." Shalom New Creature |

117 | Why did the Holy Spirit leave David? | Psalm | New Creature | 53427
In Isaiah 59:2 it says - But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid [his] face from you, that he will not hear. David committed the sin of adultery with Bathsheba and then plotted to have Uriah, Bathshebas's husband sent to the front of battle, so as to die. I don't know what verse you are referring to when you say that the Holy Spirit left David. I don't believe the Holy Spirit ever completely left David. What I do think is that through sin, fellowship with God was broken. David was, as Isaiah said, separated from fellowship with God. Also if you read Psalm 51 you will read what David said. Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. 3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin [is] ever before me. Ps 51:4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done [this] evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, [and] be clear when thou judgest. Ps 51:7 ¶ Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. 8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; [that] the bones [which] thou hast broken may rejoice. 9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Ps 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. 11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. 12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me [with thy] free spirit. Ps 51:14 ¶ Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: David didn't say God had taken His Holy Spirit away from him. David pleaded that the Holy Spirit might not be taken from him. He momentarily lost the joy of his salvation through broken fellowship. But through repentance, remorse, and acknowledgement of his sin, their was restoration, and a renewed right spirit within him was again given. |

118 | why did David think God had forsaken him | Ps 22:1 | New Creature | 117586
Actually the words: My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? found in Ps. 22:1 are prophethic words, in reference to the words Christ would speak when suffering on the cross, so as to fulfill prophecy concerning Him. Compare with Matthew 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? and Mark 15:34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? |

120 | How does Psalm 73 respond to the world? | Ps 73:1 | New Creature | 68180
Lets look at selected verses of Psalm 73 1 Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart. 2 But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped. 3 For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. 7 Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish. 12 Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches. 13 Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency. 14 For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning. 16 When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me; 17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end. 18 Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction. 20 As a dream when one awaketh; 21 Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins. 22 So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee. 23 Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand. 24 Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. 25 Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. 26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. 27 For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee. 28 But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works. I can only reply as how the Lord used that Psalm 2 years ago to stir my spirit and my heart. (v.1)God today is still good to all those whose hearts are kept unpolluted and clean our bodies are the temple of His Holy Spirit which is in us, and we are to keep these temples of our bodies undefiled and clean. (see 1 Cor. 6:19-20) (v 2) when verse 2 says; "as for me, ... my steps had almost slipped" The Lord was speaking to me personally telling me that I need to come out of my back-slidding state, which if continued in would mean that if I continue to defile the temple of my body, then God would destroy this temple. (see 1 Cor. 3:17) (vs. 3 and 12) How often today do we look around at how properous those without Christ in this world are, and we become often envious. I need to ask the Lord to forgive me for these thoughts. I should be setting my affection on things above not on things of the earth. (Col. 3:2) (v. 7) "Their eyes ... have more than heart could wish" The unsaved have so much and still are not satisfied. Lord teach me to be content with such things as I have. If I have You then I have all I need. (vs. 13,14,16) The Psalmist here is feeling down upon himself, and is beginning to question whether or not he has maintain cleanliness in an ungodly world in vain, and is thinking about the difficulty of walking in the faith. (v. 17) This begins the moment of awaking in the Psalmist's thoughts. When he entered the sanctuary and begin to focus his eyes upon the Lord, instead of the world around him, his right understanding returned to him. (v. 18) He now looked at the ungodly in a different light. He realized that all their riches and gold is only temporary, but that his own rewards which were being stored up in Heaven were unperishable. (vs. 20-22 The Psalmist begins to be saddened by his thoughts and realizes the foolishness of his earlier thoughts concerning those who are rich in material goods. (vs. 23- 26) are beautiful verses. The Psalmists strength and joy returns as he remembers that the Lord continues to hold him by his hand and guide him, and counsel him. He thinks upon his future state when he shall be received into glory when this earthly life is complete. Verse 25 is my favorite in this Psalm The Psalmist like my self can honestly say; "there is no one upon earth that I desire beside Thee. His only desire is God. In verse 26 the Psalmist declares the truth that his flesh and heart fail, but God still provides the needed strength to occupy till He comes, and is His portion, (ineritance or rich reward). (v. 27) Is a 180 degree turn about of the Psalmist's earlier thoughts concerning the ungodly. He speaks about a) those that are far from being in a relationship with God as ultimately perishing, and b) the destruction of those who depart from the Lord. (to me meaning those who do not continue to perseverve and remain faithful to God. They commit the act known as Spiritual adultery.) (v. 28) Finally the Psalmist declares how it is good to draw near to God. The NT says "7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded." James 4:7-8) So let us continue in the faith trusting in Jesus. Lets us keep our bodies clean and available for the Master's use blessings New Creature |
