61 | Want opinions on when rapture occure | Bible general Archive 1 | New Creature | 73009
Chusarcik While I don't claim to be an authority on this topic, I will provide you with some of my thoughts on the matter. First Scripture says: But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Matthew 24:37 So, how was it in the days of Noah? From what I see in my Bible few were saved. Only 8 souls did not perish. So I personally believe that when the Lord returns, there again will be few souls waiting, watching, ready and prepared for His coming. I believe the church will have fallen away from the faith by the time the Lord returns. (see 2 Thess. 2:1-3) Also in Matthew 24:29-31 it tells us "immediately AFTER the tribulation" the order of the events of His second coming. But notice- it says AFTER the tribulation, not before it. Matthew 24:30 says " they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds" some will tell you this coming in the clouds is not His actual coming. I personally don't buy into that thinking. Whether he comes in the clouds or otherwise, that is still His coming, and I don't see mention of a third or fourth coming, or anywhere where my Bible mentions that His coming will be in stages as some believe. If His second coming was in stages then to me that would contradict the following verses. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 1 Cor. 15:52 "In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump" all sounds pretty quick to me. My Present Conclusion - I don't see the pre-tribulation rapture as being scriptural. I am not firm in my position concerning the timing of the rapture, however I would be more inclined and open to mid to post trib theories. Finally Matthew 24:44 says: Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. the command in the verse above; "be ye also ready" I believe is directed towards all believers in Christ Jesus We are to be ready, watching, waiting, expecting, and prepared at all times. One preacher once told me - "Hope for pre-trib, but be prepared for post-trib, that way you won't get caught off guard, and "Left Behind" Blessings New Creature |

62 | To whom do we belong? | Bible general Archive 1 | New Creature | 73448
The reason I haven't answered this question is because you didn't send it to me. Your question was as follows "If a person can turn away from God, I guess they can turn back again and again and again. Question, How many times did Christ die on the cross? How many times does He need to pay the price?" the answer to your question can be found in Hebrews 6:4 For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, 6:5 and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6:6 and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame. 10:26 For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 10:27 but a terrifying expectation of judgment and THE FURY OF A FIRE WHICH WILL CONSUME THE ADVERSARIES. 10:28 Anyone who has set aside the Law of Moses dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 10:29 How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace? 10:30 For we know Him who said, "VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY." And again, "THE LORD WILL JUDGE HIS PEOPLE." 10:31 It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God. 10:32 But remember the former days, when, after being enlightened, you endured a great conflict of sufferings, 10:33 partly by being made a public spectacle through reproaches and tribulations, and partly by becoming sharers with those who were so treated. 10:34 For you showed sympathy to the prisoners and accepted joyfully the seizure of your property, knowing that you have for yourselves a better possession and a lasting one. 10:35 Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. 10:36 For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised. 10:37 FOR YET IN A VERY LITTLE WHILE, HE WHO IS COMING WILL COME, AND WILL NOT DELAY. 10:38 BUT MY RIGHTEOUS ONE SHALL LIVE BY FAITH; AND IF HE SHRINKS BACK, MY SOUL HAS NO PLEASURE IN HIM. 10:39 But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the preserving of the soul. 63 | Can You Answer All Ten? | Bible general Archive 1 | New Creature | 80121
Hank This was enjoyable. Let me attempt to answer just one of your questions, while at the same time asking a question myself. You asked - "Does a person have to be saved to be baptized?.... " My answer would be - a person who has been saved should desire to follow-up with baptism as an outward testimony of the inward change that has been brought about. Having said that, I now ask - Are all baptized people saved? Shalom New Creature |

64 | Lent. Why don't Catholics eat meat? | Bible general Archive 1 | New Creature | 85352
In my opinion when a Catholic says they don't eat meat on Fridays during lent, they are stating a falacy. The fact that they eat fish on Friday's during lent proves that they indeed do eat meat. The flesh of a fish is just as much meat as is the flesh of chicken. When I go to the grocery store, I have to go to the meat counter to buy fish. I don't see anything wrong with anyone who chooses to eat fish, on Friday's during Lent, just don't try to tell me you don't eat meat. That's not a totally factual statement. |

65 | did angels mate with humans thus giants | Bible general Archive 1 | New Creature | 88999
Dear lady dunbar angels have not and do not mate with humans. neither do angels pro-create. angels do not even mate with other angels, let alone humans. The number of angels has always remained constant. Their numbers have never multiplied. Mt 22:30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven Mark 12:25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven. 66 | What are your views of once saved always | Bible general Archive 1 | New Creature | 89986
I hold to the Scriptural view which says; Heb. 3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame. (Heb. 6:4-6 NASB) If a man abide not me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. (John 15:6) Rom. 11:21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. Rom. 11:22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. 67 | Are gays/lesbians bound for hell? | OT general | New Creature | 41263
Greetings Marquita Blakemore; The fact that you are concerned about the destiny of your soul indicates to me that God is speaking to you and loves you. You say you have excepted christ as savior; When we say we accept Christ as Savior that means that we believe everything He says about Himself, and also believe everything He says about us. I won't pull any punches with you, because I too care too much for your soul to see you miss out on all God desires for you. If God by His Holy Spirit is speaking to your heart and causing you to be concerned that your soul may be bound for hell, then I won't go against what I believe God is trying to tell you. But the reason God is speaking to your heart is because He wants to change you into what He would have you be. Don't take the voice of your inner conscience lightly. God is speaking, and has plans for a wonderful life in Heaven with Him so listen to what He is teaching you. Prayerfully read God's word, and ask Him to reveal the truth to you as I believe He is even now beginning to do. God loves you and I love you also |

68 | Who are the "sons of God?" | OT general | New Creature | 44650
Here is my opinion. In Gen 6:2 "sons of God" refers to believers in God (the saved ones). The phrase "daughters of men" in the same verse refers to the unsaved or unbelievers. The believers were joining in mixed marriages with unbelievers, which causes many problems. Solomon had many foreign wives who turned his heart away from the Lord. Believers should marry believers. We don't marry an unbeliever hoping that they will later become believers. Concerning the verse in Job 1:6, I like the wording that comes from the NIV Bible. It says: "One day the angels came came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came with them." In that verse I believe the angels mentioned here refer to the angels who remained in God's presence and were not of the 1/3 of fallen angels that joined Satan in the rebellion against God. So it is my opinion that the verses you mention do not refer to the same thing when it mentions the "sons of God" |

70 | people before Adam and Eve?? yes or no | OT general | New Creature | 111372
Gospel South You asked; "WERE THERE PEOPLE BEFORE ADAM AND EVE?????" According to God's word Adam was the first man. 1 Corinthians 15:45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul. If there were other men before Adam, then God's word would not have stated that Adam was the first man. Blessings New Creature |

71 | Christianity and beliefs | NT general Archive 1 | New Creature | 41022
Greetings charlottetu Interesting questions. So interesting that I decided to attempt to answer them the best I can. 1) Are you a commited Christian? Some people say I should be commited .... just joking. Yes I consider myself to be commmited and surrendered and yielded to Christ Jesus, however there are still a few areas of my life which have yet to be fully surrendered to His Lordship. 2) How did you become a Christian? I became a Christian through a co-worker who God used to lead me to the point which I received Christ Jesus into my heart and life as Savior and Lord. But all of that was actually the work of the Holy Spirit. 3)Do you belong to a particular denomination of the Church? I am a member of a church, but I can't say that it is a particular denomination, at least not by my experience 4)Are you confirmed? Let me answer this one using Scripture. "The Spirit bears witness with my spirit that I am a child of His Rom. 8:16 5)Do communicate with God in any particular way? Yes I communicate with God through prayer, and the Bible Scripture says "he who has an ear, let him hear." So God does desire to speak to us. 6)How often do you go to Church? Every Sunday 7)What beliefs do you hold that make you a Christian? I believe God's word contained in the Bible 8)What makes you different from a non-Christian? Since becoming a Christian, God has changed my desires, thoughts, interests, speech, etc. I am not the same person I was BC or Before Christ. I no longer swear, smoke, drink booze, become angry without cause, I no longer consider myself above others, and I have love for others. And a burden for the lost. 9)What do you think it means to be a disciple? To follow the teachings of Christ Jesus. 10)Do you consider yourself a disciple? A disciple yes, an Apostle no 11)Have you ever done anything against Christianity? Sure, I'm not perfect. 12) Are there any things you wouldn't do because you're a Christian? Absolutely; I WILL NOT go to the movie theaters and pay to hear and see the garbage that is on the big screen these days. God has called me to servanthood and stewardship, and the Lord has impressed upon my heart the importance of not giving to Hollywood that which He has given or support that unworthy and ungodly cause. But thats just me. Your welcome |

72 | bible reference to support remarrying | NT general Archive 1 | New Creature | 49940
You are correct The only Bibical grounds for divorce that I can find is reserved for adulterous circumstances. Concerning when one divorced can remarry the following Scripture seems to say, only upon death of ones spouse. To marry someone who is divorced while the spouse still lives makes both adulterers. 1 Cor. 7:27 Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife. 1 Cor. 7:39 The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord. |

73 | dead bury the dead? | NT general Archive 1 | New Creature | 53094
Mt 8:19 And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. 20 And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air [have] nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay [his] head. 21 And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. 22 But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead. The scribe which came to Jesus, said to Jesus: " suffer me first to go and bury my father." It has been said that the scribes father was not yet dead. The scribe was merely stating, let me first remain with my father until the day when he dies, so that I may bury him, then I will come and follow you. So this scribe was only making an excuse for not following Jesus, and attempting to post-pone obedience. Jesus said in other places: Mt 10:37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and: Mark 10:29-30 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life. Luke 14:26 If any [man] come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. (Jesus wasn't saying we should hate our relatives, but that we should not love them more that God. The Lord demands first place in our hearts) Concerning Jesus words "let the dead bury their dead" Here is the meaning: Let those who are physically alive, but remain spiritually dead bury those of theirs who die physically. It's not that the person wouldn't be buried. Those who are dead spiritually, but alive physically would see to his burial at the proper time. Hope this helps |

74 | When does the Holy Spirit leave you ???? | NT general Archive 1 | New Creature | 53755
Eph 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Grieve: 3076 lupeo (loo-peh'-o) from 3077; TDNT - 4:313,540; v AV - be sorrowful 6, grieve 6, make sorry 6, be sorry 3, sorrow 3, cause grief 1, be in heaviness 1; 26 1) to make sorrowful 2) to affect with sadness, cause grief, to throw into sorrow 3) to grieve, offend 4) to make one uneasy, cause him a scruple When we grieve the Holy Spirit by sinning, He is saddened, or offended. Sin in the believers life temporary removes the believer from fellowship with his Lord. Continual habitual sinning, also called willful sin,(Heb. 10:26) hardens the heart of the believer if persisted in. We need to confess our sins (1 John 1:9) 1 John 1:6 If we say that we have FELLOWSHIP with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have FELLOWSHIP one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John was written not to the unbeliever but to those who were already believers. The conditions for walking in the light, and having unbroken fellowship with Christ, is to confess any know sin in our lives, and then the blood of Jesus continually cleanses us from all sin. God bless |

75 | are we saved by grace or baptism? | NT general Archive 1 | New Creature | 56738
Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. In the above verse being saved is a gift. If a gift then you can't buy it. The price to obtain that gift for you individually has already been made when Jesus bled and died for you. The only thing you can do is receive the gift by faith. Water baptism is for the person of faith - for those who already have been saved. Water baptism is a rite of sacrament, an external outward washing. It's the outward testimony of the inward reality of salvation present. Salavtion is a free gift. We don't get water baptized to become saved, we get baptized because we have been saved. |

77 | How can I know GOD? | NT general Archive 1 | New Creature | 85463
Dewey I would suggest you study the writtings of John. Here are a few essential verses on maintaining a personal relationship with God. And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments 1 John 2:3 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him 1 John 2:4 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. 1 John 2:5 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. 1 John 3:24 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. 1 John 4:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God 1 John 5:13 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life 1 John 5:20 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. John 15:10 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin 1 John 1:7 New Creature |

79 | Can you loose your salvation? | NT general Archive 1 | New Creature | 123076
swmparent2; For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame. (Heb. 6:4-6 NASB) A good example of how we should take this warning seriously is the life of a man named Charles Templeton. A generation ago he was deeply involved in the foundations of Youth for Christ and impacted the nation for Jesus. Chuck Smith himself has said how dynamic and powerful a minister he was, and that he would go anywhere to hear him. Many people received Jesus at his meetings, and he was an associate with Billy Graham in the early years. But recently he wrote a book in which he totally denounces his belief in Jesus Christ, denounces even his belief even in God, and says he is an atheist. Charles Templeton totally denounces his early confessions of faith and through his book he wants to "rescue" the people he once brought to Jesus. Obviously, this man - in his present, apostate state - is not going to heaven. You can debate all day long if he was never saved or if he lost his salvation. But at the end of the day, there are two conclusions. First, at one time, by all human appearance he was saved. Second, he didn't take the warnings of the Bible to keep walking, to keep trusting, to keep persevering in the faith seriously enough. (David Guzik's Commentaries on the Bible) Blessings to you New Creature |
