23 | clear conscience equal innocents? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 31507
lumarkarn- I don't believe so. I don't have scripture to back this up, unless it would be about training up a child in the way he should go..., but if a child, from when he is young is never taught that it is wrong to take others things, he will think it is alright. And I can see it in my culture (American) that the name of the Lord is used in vain so often that people don't even know what it means. Moses was given the ten commandments as a guideline so what the Hebrew people saw as "normal" around them in Egypt, they knew was not "normal" in God's eyes. When you know what is right, your conscience will let you know, but even that can become hardened to where it doesn't affect one. That is why the Bible is so good to read on a daily basis. We need the reminder in front of us, and if we start to get off track, it is there in black and white. Debbie |

24 | how credible r we if theres no rapture | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 34034
I agree with hecameforu. The main thing is to let people know about what Jesus did for us. I am not sure if I will be going through the tribulation or if Jesus will come for me before it starts - or mid point. Whatever. He WILL come and He is Lord of my life and I know the scriptures are 100 per cent accurate, even though our understanding of them may be incomplete, differ, or just plain faultily human! And I also think that is one reason that the tribulation matters should be told to others in that light - we don't know for sure but we DO know what ultimately will happen. We will live with Him forever. Blessings and peace- Debbie |

25 | DOES GOD AGREE WITH CREMATION | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 36076
Chalebert- I don't believe God cares what happens to our bodies after we die. If He could form the first man out of the dust, if He could form a whole galaxy with just His word, do you think it would be any problem for Him to find the molecules that formed our bodies when we die - even if they were scattered over the whole world? When a person loses a body part or life due to accident, fire, etc., when he meets the Lord in the sky do you think he will be minus that part or just a cloud of ashes? I don't remember seeing where the Lord tells us how to dispose of the deceased. He is more concerned with our state of the soul. Bless you- Debbie |

26 | Can non-Christians be in praise band? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 36912
searcher- This can be subject to change, but right now, I would say no. I feel that to be in a praise band you should be setting an atmosphere of worship, of desiring the Lord's presence, of bringing the people to that hunger level. You also should be in tune with where the Lord wants His people to be led. I don't believe this just applies to the leader, but to all of the band. If there is a person who does not believe, how can he desire these things? This does not mean that the Lord won't move if there is a non-believer in the band, but I believe, if all are gathered in His Name, are worshipping together with the same objective, He can move more freely (?). It is not a matter of exclusivity, but of desiring for the best. Debbie |

27 | Are we expected to keep the sabath? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 42387
Elisah- I don't think keeping the Sabbath is mentioned in the New Testament (although the others are) as a commandment to keep. However, New testament scripture tells us to meet with other believers for fellowship, teaching, worship and keeping the rememberence of our Lord's death and resurrection. The day most Christians meet on is Sunday. If we don't go to church on Sunday we do not lose our salvation, but we are missing out on so much that the Lord would have for us - a chance to grow closer through Him and to Him, and to be edified and to give edification. When the Lord gives us information, it is a good idea to listen to Him. The Sabbath was given as a day of rest and to keep our minds and hearts fixed on Him. Keeping it holy is to be in His presence and to dwell in Him. I do think we should have one day of the week kept strictly for honoring Him - not in a legalistic sense, but with our hearts, knowing that the time of rest will deepen our spiritual walk with Him and give us power for the other six days of being in the world. |

28 | Who made Sunday a day of worship | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 42655
Elder- We are not under the O.T. law. Jesus resurrected and appeared to his followers on the first day of the week. Each Sunday thereafter, He appeared to them. Pentecost was on a Sunday. If you read in Colossians 2:16, it doesn't matter whether you worship on Saturday or Sunday and stating one or the other is the ONLY day is being legalistic and no different that the Jewish leaders who condemned Jesus for healing on the "Sabbath". By the way, although the priciples expressed in the 10 commandments are reafirmed in the New Testament, the command to set Saturday apart as a day of rest and worship is the only one not repeated there. I think having the Lord's appearance on the first day of the week would put His seal of approval on choosing that day as a likely day to worship. |

29 | Lord of the Sabbath is he not | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 42930
But not as a command to us. Jesus came to fulfil ALL the the Law and keeping the Sabbath was the Law. However, He broke tradition by allowing His hungry disciples to eat on the Sabbath (as did David), and also by healing and teaching. We are told, in the new testament to observe the other commandments (reference made directly to each) except for the one referring to the Sabbath (on a particular day) but only not to neglect meeting with other believers.
30 | Dress (clothing) at church? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 43072
i have never seen a dress code in the bible (unless you were a Levitical priest!) but I believe it is a sign of respect for being in the house where the King is worshipped. Necessary - no. And if you are doing it to impress people, you are failing to come into His presence with the right attitude to start out with! Debbie |

31 | Debbie What language did the they speak? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 47356
I believe it was a Chinese dialect. And we know Paul spoke in tongues by 1 Cor.14:18. And who is to say he didn't speak in more than one kind of tongue? I do not know what tongue it is that I have. But I do know that when I am praising God, sometimes you run out of words, "Holy" can only be repeated so many times and I believe I am also giving Him praise in this way. If I am in agony over a prayer concern, sometimes words seem so inadequate. Then I am grateful for tongues. And again, it is prayer that, because I do not understand what is being prayed, I am not letting my own "wants" come into it. But you know all this. Carry 1 Cor.13:14 on one more verse. Love you in Christ- Debbie |

32 | Feel so lonely and down over this burden | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 59133
Mae64- Don't make any hasty decisions aobut church attendance right now. When under stress, you don't know ir it will be the right one. Keep attending. Look to God. Then I would find out if the pastor even knew about the situation. Call him. Talk to him. Tell him your feelings. It sounds as if you have some caring people in your church. Are there any of them you could ask to pray with you and open your heart to? If after all this, you still feel that your pastor was not there when the need was so great and that he could have been, maybe it is time to look around. But give it time! Pray! Forgive! And then look at the situation when the times have evened out and they will even out. Remember, when we are the weakest and feel we are at the end of the rope, we see find it is Jesus holding on to the other end. He will give you strength. We may not see HIs hand now, but we will later. God bless you and give you peace. Debbie |

33 | Why r some people mentally ill? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 59134
Makarios gave some good examples for you. However, I do not discount the idea that demonic possesion is not a part of some of the cases today. Of special concern are those that have dabbled in the occult - which our culture in the U.S. seems to be promoting and making it seem innocent. I do think there are more than some would want to think and less than some would have you think. But the best answer on a general scale could be answered with the question "why do some people have heart disease, etc.?" God's peace. Debbie |

34 | Is it a sin for women to wear pants? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 59564
What a person wears is not stated, only that the "women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation...." in 1 Timothy 2:9. The whole point being, women should not dress in such a way as to bring unwholesome (?) attention to themselves. Debbie |

35 | divorce negates marriage? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 59743
I am going to take a stab at this. I think that the offended spouse, if the reason for the divorce was because of her spouse's infidelity, is not obligated to receive the other, should they decide to return. If the injured spouse would choose to remarry, it would be permitted. However, I believe it is in Malachi 2:16 where it is stated "I hate divorce" so if it is possible for the one injured to forgive and to be able to trust again to return to the marriage. If after the divorce, one or the other remarried someone else or had an affair, it would be considered fornication so the marriage would be broken. I do know that even in cases that look hopeless, marriages can be rebuilt stronger than ever. A person I know had her husband cheat on her after 18 years of a marriage that she thought was "ideal". She was in an apartment and was ready to sell her house when she decided to give her husband the forgiveness he sought. I can report their marriage is now as strong as it ever was, if not stronger. But it takes a brokeness on both sides for it to succeed. Debbie |

38 | Brother's harsh letter - re: Mormon | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 71992
dat- I love 1 Cor. chapter 7. I have kind of been in your mess, divorced twice, and i know the forgiveness the Lord has. You have already repented of the divorce and acknowledged that it was wrong. That was the first step. Now it is time to move on. I am also married to a man, who although is Christian in the denominational sense of the word, does not understand the personal relationship of being a Christian. This is just as hard. However, since I gave my life to the Lord, repented of what I had done in my past and gave the future to Him, I have seen miracles happen in my life in my husband. It has not been easy, but trying ot live the way the Lord wants me to live, showing His love to my husband has worked changes him. By your actions, you may be working with the Lord to change your husband and bring him to a saving relationship with the Lord. I agree with EdB. Talk to your pastor. And read the bible and PRAY, PRAY, PRAY! Debbie |

39 | PLEASE EXPLAIN MATTHEW 19:8 | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 82730
amenbob- Please go to quick search and type in divorce. You will find a lot of scripture verse references to help you out. I do know that God hates divorce as He states in Malachi, He is a God who forgives and wants us to be like Him, but He also has made some allowances where divorce is not condemned. Try the search, it might help. Debbie |
