1 | Pets in heaven after death. | Bible general Archive 2 | glory777 | 96935
floorman- Hank is right, there is no scripture saying that animals go to Heaven. However, scripture says that Christ will return riding a white horse (Revelation) and about animals living in harmony with mankind after the Lord returns. I would love to believe that the Lord has a special place that the animals go after death, and who's to say He doesn't - you couldn't find a book big enough to put all that the Lord has done or can do in it - but scripture doesn't tell us so. 2 | Is 'match making' Biblical? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 7143
I don't think there is anything wrong with this. I don't recall any precedent set in the Bible for the social situation we are in today. I do know that the Bible says not to be unevenly yoked, and if that means the only way you can meet someone of the opposite sex who is Christian, than go for it. Good friends are valuable. I think about the only types of matchmaking in the Bible were those done by the parents for their children, or for nations to cement their relationships (kings marrying their daughters to other kings). |

3 | Babies and young children a distraction? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 7307
Nolan (and others)- I was raised in a church where the children had to sit quietly for over an hour or were threatened and taken out. Church was sober and very, very serious. I do not know of one child that grew up to enjoy being in church. It was a duty. I now belong to a church that welcomes and makes a place for the children. When church first starts we have faster praise music. The children enjoy singing their praises to the Lord. Babies are kept with their parents unless they are fussing and then we have a soundproof nursery in the back with viewing and sound. When the worship and teaching begins, along with the slower music, the young children go to children's church (4-10 years or so) and the toddlers and infants (if the parents want) go to toddlers church. The children see how much the adults love to worship and they learn that praising and worshipping God is something to look forward to.In their "church", they find learning about Jesus is something that is fun. I know it is not a distraction when small children sing praise songs and we are blessed by having conscientious parents of babies. |

4 | Churchianity | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 7856
I agree thoroughly. By putting down one denomination you are putting down a part of the Body of Christ. Even in a single denomination, you may have slight disagreements but you love each other with the love of Christ.
5 | Let's talk about prayer | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 9233
Hank- I think you have hit a subject that could use a whole new forum to address. One thing I have had to deal with myself, is the area of praying for my "wants" and not just my needs. God wants us to live the "abundant" life and the references given to God's generousity - not only in the spiritual sense- is all through scripture (Gen. 41:47; Num. 20:11; Deut. 30:9; John 10:10; Mal 3:10-11; Luke 6:38). When we go to the Lord in prayer, we must go as children to a loving Father who wants to know our every desire, not just what we think sounds "proper". Will we receive what we ask for? That is in the Lord's hands and in His best judgement. What are our motives for asking? If it is because of envy or greed, we are not in His will in the matter. And although and because He loves us as His little children, He will not give us everything we ask for. If I gave my children everything they asked for I would not be a responsible parent (plus I would be penniless!). I also believe that when the Lord blesses us generously in the physical sense, He expects us to use His lavishness to further the glory of His name. Debbie |

6 | How to know calling in your life? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 10010
The Spirit Filled Life bible gives an explanation of the gift of prophesy as a divinely inspired and anointed utterance; Supernatural procalmation in a known language; Manifestation of the Spirit of God - not of intellect (1 Cor. 12:7); May be possessed and operated by all who have the infilling of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 14:31); Intellect, faith, and will are operative in this gift, but its exercise is not intellectually based. it is calling forth words from the Spirit of God. It also gives two definitions. "1. The prophet is a spiritually mature spokesman/proclaimer with a special, divinely focused message to the church or the world. 2. A person uniquely gifted at times with insight into future events." How do you know if you have a calling for prophecy? Is there any in your church who are mature spiritually with a gifting toward prophecy? If you feel that you have a word from the Lord, tell them first and see if they confirm what you feel the Lord is laying on your heart. If you feel it is a prophesy for the future, write it down. Remember, in history a true prophet was always accurate in his predictions given to him by the Lord. |

7 | Do humans become angels? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 10171
Angels were created by God to do service to Him and praise and worship Him. A finite number were created. When a believer dies, they are changed but not to an angel. We will know each other, but our likeness will be with Jesus. We are sons of the Most High, we will be sons, and therefore not servants.
8 | Why will we know each other? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 10232
Not so much a verse, but if we are changed as Jesus was changed after He died, where doors and walls did not mean anything and He could be here and then there in an instant, so shall we. However, the apostles knew Him, He still had the scars, so even though molecularly He was changed, His appearance was recognizable.
9 | Do you think this may be | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 12015
The only reference in the Bible that I can think of that would justify falling in the presence of the Holy Spirit would be when the glory of the Lord would fill the temple and and priests could not even enter to minister, but would fall and could not move. I, too, am Pentecostal, and I will agree with my brother, EdB that there is a lot of the flesh involved here. But I will not say that everything I see is not of the Holy Spirit but of Satan. That to me sounds too much like the Pharisees saying that Jesus and His miracles where of the devil. God can work in whatever way He chooses, and I will not accuse Him if I do not know for certain. I do know that you can go deeper into worship than just mouthing prayers and singing songs and then leaving just as you entered. I know that you can be so focused on the Lord, and desire Him so much that you can feel His presence in a stronger way. When this happens, it is you and Him and nothing else matters. And being in this association, your strength can leave you. I don't agree that it happens everytime someone touches you in prayer, but I know that it can happen even if no one is touching you in prayer. I know of many people who have gone for "altar call" and have never been "slain in the Spirit." Does that mean that the Lord has not touched him? Not at all, but different people react in different ways, and the Lord moves in different ways. I have seen others that are "slain in the spirit" and fall time after time. But I see the change in the one who doesn't fall but walks with the Lord and no change in the other's walk. I think the one very much has "flesh" in the action. Holy laughter? I think that also can be taken to extremes - or a fleshly thing. I know God will not take possesion of a person, that you are in control of your acts (Corinthians)but I have also seen too many churchs where people come in with a glum expression and leave the same way. There is a real problem finding any joy, let alone the joy of the Lord. Any time things are done out of time or place, it has no order. God is a god of order. |

10 | I liked most of what... | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 12095
There- I believe that if you fake anything, it is not of God. So yes, it would be sin. But that doesn't mean "the devil made me do it!", either. I think we use the devil too much as an excuse. It can also be from self (flesh) and I find this type of of self sin coming from immature believers or even from those who want to be thought of as very "spiritual". If a person truly wants to know more of God, wants Jesus to do a work in him and change him and submits-"Do with me whatever You want Lord - I am yours and I give my will over to you" and on top of that, have others joined in prayer with him for that purpose, it is giving the Holy Spirit the opportunity to work mightily. I have gone for prayer for the Lord to work in me and give me boldness to proclaim the gospel, and I came away with a renewed sense of humbleness, and the boldness and opportunity were given. He will give this in personal prayer also, but when hearts are united for a single purpose, it seems He comes in power. Because of the abuse of this practice, should we say it should all be outlawed? No, but I think people have to use the intellect God gave them, but don't rely purely on intellect. Intellect will tell you miracles are impossible. Intellect will tell you don't go by feelings, and yet "God's Spirit bears witness with our spirit" which gives you assurance of being God's child. Don't put God into a box. He is still doing miracles today, and if some of what is being done makes you uncomfortable, find a church that goes where you are comfortable, as long as the name of Jesus is bing lifted up. For me, pentacostalism is the right church, but I know it is not for everyone. When I say I spread the gospel of Jesus, I spread the gospel for Jesus and not for my church. As long as they are being fed the Word, it is a "right" church to go to. In Christ- Debbie |

11 | How be born of water and of the Spirit? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 15208
I don't believe the bible states when Lucifer was thrown out of Heaven. I think it is possible just shortly after God created the world (Gen 1:2)but this is just speculation. There has been a thread that deals with your second question. Believers can stop sinning. Granted, it takes time and a great commitment, and to say you will never sin is a lie, but you can sin less and less and days can go by without sinning, if you are walking in obedience to the Lord Jesus and depending on the Holy Spirit to guide you. It was not the blood and the sacrifices that God loved, but the way of the heart. If the sacrifices where out of love and obedience and with the faith in God, they were acceptable. But many had gotten into doing the sacrifices just to show they were good Jews all the while they were walking in disobedience and their hearts were far from God. Micah 6:6-8 shows what God desires. If the sacrifices were done out of love and a desire to be right with God they were accepted. But these were only a symbol of what was to come, the perfect sacrifice, the One sacrifice for all times, the Lord Jesus. The former was temporary, the Latter permanent. Praise to His Name. Debbie |

13 | Let unite in prayer believers in Christ! | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 16089
Father God- I ask you to bring healing to the families and friends of those who have lost loved ones in this horrendous situation. Bring healing to our nation as a whole and help it to realize that we can do nothing without you. Father, let this tragedy not cause the people of this nation to overreact. Give us all the wisdom to know that it was a fanatical faction that caused this, and not all of mid-eastern descent or of a faith other than Christian were responsible. And Father, we come to your knowing that the time of Jesus' return draws ever nearer. Give us the boldness and the willingness to follow your leading in bringing people to You. As a country who has drawn away, we are in as much need of evangelism as any country in this world. Give us hearts for the lost. I pray this in the precious Name of Jesus. Debbie |

14 | Where was God? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 16589
prayon- I don't know if I can give a rational explaination even now, and I don't know if anyone can. I am still reeling over this, but how much more are the ones who don't have total faith in the Lord? I do know that God is soveriegn. Nothing happens on this earth that God does not allow and that won't eventually bring Him glory. I know that His ways are not our ways, His thoughts are high above. I know that so many things in the history of this world and in the history of individual lives ended up proving that. On a personal level, Job was devastated, and even the crucifiction of our Lord looked like a victory for Satan. But Job was blessed over and above all that he had originally and Christ was raised from the dead in the ultimate victory. I see everything in the last few years as being in God's plan. So many Christians were upset at Clinton's actions that in the last election there were more people praying than I had ever heard of or seen. Perhaps God put him in office for just that very reason - a choice had to be made - a godly man or a man who chose to follow his own desires. God knew what kind of a man was going to be needed for a time as we have just seen and are still seeing. In the immediate outcome of this tragedy, people of all denominations and faiths are on their knees crying out to God. I have never heard the media use the word "God" so much and so many people admitting that we need God's help. I am looking for a great working in the spiritual life of this country (and in fact the world - so many are crying to Him with us)and many people coming to the Lord because of this. Is spiritual revival worth it? Is living with God for eternity without pain, crying and no more death better than life here on earth (I am not advocating suicide or murder - when our lives here are over is in God's hand's, not ours)? We see things from our human view and in the now, we can't see the eternal view. What I do know, is that this act of war should be a wake up call for all Christians. I don't know if it will be the war that will usher in the antichrist or not, it is possible - that is in God's hands, but if ever a time was that we were called to show our true colors as Christians, now is the time. We were called to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We need to tell unbelievers, not just by our words but by our actions. People of other faiths (Islam included) need to know that Christ died for them, also. We need to show them the Jesus loves them, too, and let our love bring them to Christ. When people are scared, show them that those who are in Christ Jesus have His comfort, strengh and peace so they might wonder at the joy we have and come to know Him. We lost so many lives Tuesday, but the fields right now are whiter than they have ever been. We do not know what the Lord is planning, but we should always be looking up and know that He has a reason and that it will bring Him glory. God bless you - all who are grieving. But praise God, we do have hope! Debbie |

15 | Who was Mary Magdeline? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 17034
Freespirit- Other than the verse you have mentioned, check out Matthew 27:55-61; Luke 8:2-3; and John 20:1-18. I did not read anywhere about her going to live in the desert nor does the gospels mention any names of the devils. She didn't have any events in her life that gave her a bad reputation, but the story tellers in the present have. She is usually mentioned with older women so she must have been an older woman, also. She was a grateful follower of Jesus and nothing more than a good example for us to follow. Do not believe everything you hear, but search out in the scriptures the truth. Peace to you- Debbie |

17 | How do we know the Bible is the truth? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 18080
David- There are so many reasons to believe that the bible is true. Prophesy alone can prove the validity of it. Every single prophesy in the bible has proven true - even those written hundreds of years before the events- except for those relating to the end times and have yet to happen. Things that were related in the Old Testament, science and archeology is proving true (go to www.ICR.org to find out more). The New Testament is true relating to the life of Jesus. If it wasn't, there were enough witnesses at the time to refudiate all that His followers said and wrote about Him and the church would have died out. This Book has stood the test of time and witnesses. No other book has changed so many people's lives. No other book has been revered so much that people would be willing to die for the truths that it holds. It is true, my friend. Read and believe. Debbie |

18 | Possible Lockman Forum Improvement #1? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 18084
Dear Sir- I get frustrated with the duplicate posts, also, but there could be worse problems. If there was an economical way to eliminate them it would be wonderful. I think the idea of replying to questions that have been dealt with in the past by a referel (AND YES I WOULD LOVE TO SEE A SPELL CHECK!)to former threads is a good one, but having someone responsible to combine similar threads could cause problems. LizzieL- I have not read the books, but I know that witchcraft is alive and well in the world. I live in a small town in the MIdwestern U.S. and I know there are practicing covens near. If power is not coming from God, it is coming from another source and that is not from God. When we portray witches, warlocks, even devils as cute, innocent, playful or funny, we are taking away the reality and playing right into their hands. Be aware. May God grant you wisdom in this matter and open your husband's eyes to the truth. Debbie |

20 | Would Isaiah 53 help Jews and Muslims? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 22294
Welcome and blessings- When Christ was on earth in His physical body, the Jews were looking for a king - they chose to look only at the verses that showed Messiah as a conquering hero. They are still under oppression and the arrival of a Person bringing peace and justice to the world and recognizing them as His chosen people is what is more appealing than a suffering servant. Their eyes were blind then, pray that their eyes will be opened now. Peace in Jesus' name. Debbie |
