21 | The word of God? | Heb 4:12 | glory777 | 67813
Searcher123- Faith is a weak answer for people who do not have it. What can prove it is fact. I do not remember the exact number of prohesies that are in the bible - I know it is hundreds - but every one has come true except for those dealing with the end times. Many of them were written hundreds of years prior to the fulfillment. If these were given by the inspiration of God, I will bet my soul that the rest is. I feel my future is more secure resting in the words of the bible than what the world offers. Debbie |

22 | Why not James, Joses, Simon or Judas | John 19:26 | glory777 | 66155
Hi Prayon- I don't know for sure, but I think Jesus intended that because John was at the cross with Mary. I don't see that any of Jesus' siblings were there. If John loved Him enough to be there and, I am sure, comfort Mary who was grieving with him, who else could offer, not only monetary support, but emotional support and was likeminded. We know that earlier on, his brothers thought Jesus was crazy. john was always the disciple whom Jesus loved. Just a guess. Debbie |

23 | scripture that deals with husbands and w | 1 Cor 7:5 | glory777 | 66154
quelajerry- The scripture is saying that if there is a mutual agreement and for a set time, sexual relationships between husband and wives can be denied. Disagreements as a basis? Nah. Scripture says a lot about disagreements and anger. Eph. 4:26 is a prime example. Debbie |

24 | Conversion or tolerance? | Matt 10:16 | glory777 | 65854
I think it is for anyone who has a heart for doing what Jesus commanded, especially for those going into lands where the persecution is severe. The disciples at that time (and many today) are going where they would be putting their lives on the line. However, Jesus said in Matt. 28:19-20 we are to make disciples. Religious freedom is a term used today to be politically correct and insulate ourselves from what Jesus wants us to do. No, we should not persecute those who believe different than we do, but we do have an obligation to show them the love of Christ and Christ working in us. It is ultimately not up to you to convert them, it is the work of the Holy Spirit but it is up to you to tell them of the Hope that is in you and leave the choice to them. How will they know if they don't hear the Truth? I have found an "in your face" approach doesn't often work. I have heard the saying "preach the gospel, if neccessary - use words". Your example, your attitude, what you surround yourself with (music, entertainment, etc.), the attitude you have will often cause questions. A perfect opportunity for sharing what Jesus has done for you. But do nothing without prayer and ask for the HOly Spirit's guidance. And above all PRAY for those friends of yours. Remember, you may not be the one to see the fruit of what you are doing. You may just be planting the seed that someone else will water before faith springs to life. But don't give up. May God increase your zeal for working for Him. May He bless you and give you opportunities to send forth His word. May He give you boldness and an even greater love for Him, in Jesus' precious name. 25 | Can someone help w/my realtionship w/god | Rom 10:9 | glory777 | 65330
lost-n-MS- I pray that this site will be a blessing to you. First, you need to know all that being a Christian means. It means giving up to the Lord rulership of your life. It is not easy, but He has made so many promises to us that those who are not Christian can never comprehend the reality of it all. Peace, jooy, love, hope, etc. , and yes, trials and persecution, but through the rough times, you know that He is there and His love is eternal. He gave His very life in the most horrible way that can be imagined for YOU! Because He loves you and could not imagine going through eternity without you. But He will not force you to spend eternity with HIm. Nor will He force you trust in Him or make Him Lord in your life. If you choose to love Him, if you choose to give your life to Him, all it take is to repent of your sins (a turn around of 180 degrees - knowig the things you are doing or the life you are living is incomplete without HIm), acknowledging the Jesus Christ is God and you want Him to come into your heart and be Lord of your life forever. When you truly desire this, when you invite Him in, He will come in. He will revive the spirit you were born with and make it new in Him. You are His child. Then you need to find a bible-believing and teaching church. There are many denominations that teach what scripture has to say. And above all, read your bible. Get a version that is easy to understand and I would suggest starting with the book of the gospel of John. God bless you in your walk with the Lord. You will never walk alone. If you have any more questions - E-mail me. Debbie |

26 | Evil Spirit from the Lord? | 1 Sam 19:9 | glory777 | 65064
justducky- The Lord had removed His protection from Saul by this point. David had been chosen to replace him. With the absence of God's protection, we are open to all sorts of things. In this case, a demonic spirit was able to influence Saul. Kind of like if I left my grandson by a mud puddle and he decided to ignore what I had said and got full of mud. I took my protecion from him, he reaped the results (although to him, it might have been worth it!) but it could be said that I allowed him to get full of mud. Don't know if this would help in a study of the origin of evil, but ever since Satan turned his back and rebeled against God, evil was in the world and has had a powerful sway. It is only with the Lord's protecion that we have any protection, by His grace, and when it does touch us, it is only by His strength that we have the strength to stand and weather the situation. God bless- debbie |

27 | Why this mass execution ? | Josh 7:24 | glory777 | 63933
It does seem harsh, but the Lrod can not look on sin and in order to go before the people of Israel, the had to follow Him. The rules were stated and Achan knew them. The people of Israel knew them and had to show the Lord that they wanted to obey Him. Anything left over of Achan's property would have been booty for the rest of Israel, anything of the property that was taken was cursed. Should someone else benefit from someone's sin? Achan's disobedience and subsequent punishment, stopped sin against the Lord from being passed down through his family, and because it was punished by all of the people of Israel, it was affirmation by those who did the execution that they would follow the Lord. Also, by comveting the things of Jericho, he was in essence, identifying himself with the things of Jericho. He doomed himself and all that he had to the same fate as the inhabitants of that city. These are my own thoughts on the matter. Any others? Debbie |

28 | in ot will the peope be judge by law | Rev 20:12 | glory777 | 63129
This may be debated, but I think that, the laws were written to keep the Jews as a separate people (and also a healthier people) and the sacrificial laws were kept to remind people of how much they needed to be saved and, of course, as a poor substitute of our Savior to come. But it is by faith, and faith alone that salvation comes and always has come. Abraham may have observed all the laws and sacrifices, but it was by faith that righteousness was accounted to him. But just as we will be rewarded by our works (if our motives are right) so will they by their law. Debbie |

29 | have to speek in tounges to be saved? | 1 Cor 14:22 | glory777 | 63128
Amanda- Johnny answered correctly. No where does it say in the bible that you have to speak in tongues to be saved. Salvation only comes through the the belief of Jesus' death on behalf of your sins and by your recognizing it as such and asking Him to be Lord of your life. Speaking in tongues is a gift, but I know many who are saved and do not speak in tongues. Tongues is a special "prayer language" that is only for the believer himself. It is private communion between the speaker and God and the speaker doesn't have a clue what he is saying. Sometimes it is just a need to use it (I believe it is an intercessory thing at times) and sometimes it is used when there are no words that are adequate in private praise and prayer. But for salvation - no. Debbie |

31 | In what city was David born? | 1 Sam 16:1 | glory777 | 63036

32 | What is the Crown of Life | James 1:12 | glory777 | 62283
When we invite Jesus to be our Lord and Savior, we have eternal life. But there are also rewards given for what we do on this earth and, I think, some are in the form of crowns so that we may join with the elders (as in Revelation 4)in laying our "crowns" at the Lord's feet. Debbie |

33 | What difference does it make who wrote | 2 Tim 3:16 | glory777 | 62145
It does help to understand the way the scriptures were written if we know who did the writing. Yes, all of the scripture was written by the inspiration of God, but some "inconsistancies" are explained by the knowledge of who wrote the scriptures, to whom they were originally intended and the time that they were written. Customs change, language changes and these also need to be taken into account when reading scripture, especially those parts that are hard to understand. Debbie |

34 | What can we learn from Jesus' encounter | Heb 4:15 | glory777 | 62062
Jesus was tempted in many of the ways we are tempted on this occasion. He also was tempted in the ways that Adam and Eve were tempted, only He won back the rulership of the world by not falling as they did. Now we can claim the victory based on what He won. He also showed us how to overcome temptation. Memorizing scripture is a prime defense against the enemy. Debbie |

35 | Who was the first drunk in the Bible? | Gen 9:21 | glory777 | 61828
The first mentioned was Noah but Lot also got drunk - more than once and look what happened. Although it does not tell of the affect on the person doing the drinking, it has major consequences for those observing and close to him, affecting generations after. A word of caution to anyone! :) Debbie |

36 | Discussion Question | Matt 19:24 | glory777 | 61489
Prayon - If it is a sin, there was an awful lot of it in the lives of the OT fathers! Abraham and David must have been great sinners. God wants us to have an abundant life and I believe that means material as well as spiritual abundance. But if that material abundance means more than the things of the Kingdom, than it is sin. To have money in the bank and to be a wise steward of it is not a problem (I wish I had more of the problem!) but if you prize it more than what it can do, it is a problem. Proverbs says we are to leave an inheritance to our grandchildren - prov. 13:22 - and that doesn't get there over night. Live simply? I would dearly love to have a swimming pool. To flaunt it? No - to be cool in the hot summer. I believe what you have can be sin if you have the wrong motive for it. Pride can ruin anything you have. Love you- Deb |

37 | Historical Christian Stance on Slavery? | Exodus | glory777 | 59745

38 | divorce negates marriage? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 59743
I am going to take a stab at this. I think that the offended spouse, if the reason for the divorce was because of her spouse's infidelity, is not obligated to receive the other, should they decide to return. If the injured spouse would choose to remarry, it would be permitted. However, I believe it is in Malachi 2:16 where it is stated "I hate divorce" so if it is possible for the one injured to forgive and to be able to trust again to return to the marriage. If after the divorce, one or the other remarried someone else or had an affair, it would be considered fornication so the marriage would be broken. I do know that even in cases that look hopeless, marriages can be rebuilt stronger than ever. A person I know had her husband cheat on her after 18 years of a marriage that she thought was "ideal". She was in an apartment and was ready to sell her house when she decided to give her husband the forgiveness he sought. I can report their marriage is now as strong as it ever was, if not stronger. But it takes a brokeness on both sides for it to succeed. Debbie |

39 | Your best argument against evolution? | Genesis | glory777 | 59742
Vannessa- Go to www.icr.org. It is the institute for creation research. If they don't have the answer there, it wasn't asked! First, though, you have to know what the opposition has for an argument for evolution. It takes a greater leap of faith to believe that out of nothing can come a giant explosion to form something. And then, by chance, certain protiens, etc. come together and mingle just right with other stuff to start life. Anyway, they have the answers to questions that could be asked and counters to anything anyone could come up with to be pro-evolution. STAND STRONG, GIRL! Debbie |

40 | Is it a sin for women to wear pants? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 59564
What a person wears is not stated, only that the "women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation...." in 1 Timothy 2:9. The whole point being, women should not dress in such a way as to bring unwholesome (?) attention to themselves. Debbie |
