AMPLIFIED 2015 | John 19:26 ¶ So Jesus, seeing His mother, and the disciple whom He loved (esteemed) standing near, said to His mother, "[Dear] woman, look, [here is] your son!" |
Bible Question: We know that Jesus had brothers and sisters (Matt 13:55-56). So then why did Jesus tell John to take care of His mother instead of letting His brothers do it? prayon |
Bible Answer: Hi Prayon- I don't know for sure, but I think Jesus intended that because John was at the cross with Mary. I don't see that any of Jesus' siblings were there. If John loved Him enough to be there and, I am sure, comfort Mary who was grieving with him, who else could offer, not only monetary support, but emotional support and was likeminded. We know that earlier on, his brothers thought Jesus was crazy. john was always the disciple whom Jesus loved. Just a guess. Debbie |
