81 | To those of you talking about Tongues. | 1 Corinthians | glory777 | 24486
Welcome Martha- First of all, tongues is nothing to be afraid of. 1Cor. 14 gives a good description of the use of tongues. Different denominations have different ideas about tongues as to whether it was for the early church or if it is for the present time also. I am Pentecostal and do believe that it is for here and now. I believe it is a gift available to anyone who is saved and asks. I believe it is not for indiscriminate use. Tongues are for private use only, in your own prayer life, and is speaking words that have no meaning to the speaker, and because of this unknowing, the Holy Spirit uses it to communicate to God prayer that is not influenced by what the "prayee" would have. As the passage in Corinthians states, the only time it should be used in a group setting is when there is one who can interpret what is being spoken. This is not to be done just randomly whenever you feel like it no matter what is going on in the service, no one takes control of you, you are in control of when the gift is used, and it should be used when the time is called for. Again, I stress the fact that you do not have to speak in tongues to be saved. Anyone who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ and has accepted His as their personal Savior, repenting of their sins, is just as saved as the one who speaks in tongues, no more and no less. God Bless you in the name the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit. Debbie |

82 | how did God use davids sins of adultery | Psalm | glory777 | 22468
gloria177- This may not be the answer you are looking for, but I think, if nothing else, when he realized his sins, he wrote out his heart that we can identify with a loving God who can forgive anything. Here David is, the apple of God's eye, sinning against one of the 10 commandments, the one who trusted in God since a youth to deliver him, now wavering in his trust in the Lord only. Yet He shows us how God is always faithful and how we should remain faithful and always love and praise Him. Sometimes we cannot see how God works through circumstances immediately, but His work can be seen and circumstances can be used even thousands of years later. Blessings to you- Debbie |

83 | Would Isaiah 53 help Jews and Muslims? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 22294
Welcome and blessings- When Christ was on earth in His physical body, the Jews were looking for a king - they chose to look only at the verses that showed Messiah as a conquering hero. They are still under oppression and the arrival of a Person bringing peace and justice to the world and recognizing them as His chosen people is what is more appealing than a suffering servant. Their eyes were blind then, pray that their eyes will be opened now. Peace in Jesus' name. Debbie |

84 | On Harry Potter? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 21296
LizzieL- I have not read the books, but I know that witchcraft is alive and well in the world. I live in a small town in the MIdwestern U.S. and I know there are practicing covens near. If power is not coming from God, it is coming from another source and that is not from God. When we portray witches, warlocks, even devils as cute, innocent, playful or funny, we are taking away the reality and playing right into their hands. Be aware. May God grant you wisdom in this matter and open your husband's eyes to the truth. Debbie |

85 | What is "burst asunder" in Acts 1:18 ? | Acts 1:18 | glory777 | 20547
mncc- Remember in Matt. 27:5 scripture also says he hung himself. This is not contradictory. After he hung himself, either the rope broke, or in the process of cutting him down, as he fell his body burst open, either from falling on sharp objects or because it was a while before they found him hanging. 86 | dose it say we can fly other planets | Ps 8:3 | glory777 | 20477
Hi Jessie- I don't know of any place where it says, literally , we can fly to other planets. David was meditating on God through the means of looking at His creation. All of these things were made through the awesome power of God and we know the creation is so much less than the Creator. Adam originally was given dominion over it all until he gave it away through sin. The verses 5 through 8 are referring to Jesus (Heb. 2:6). So by considering (meditating) an all creation, seeing God's power and His goodness to us, we will come to greater love and awe of Him. Blessings- Debbie |

87 | What do the wings symbolize in dan 7:6 | NT general Archive 1 | glory777 | 20414
i don't have a clue- How do you know that the wings of the lion symbolize the USA? I have read that the images given to Daniel in chapter 7 showed the same chain of events as in the second chapter. The lion symbolized Nebuchadnezzar - the removal of his wings was when God brought him down because of his pride. (A winged lion was also the national symbol of Babylon). The lopsided bear symbolized the Medo-Persian empire and the leopard represented Greece. I'm not sure what the symbolism is for the wings, other than, knowing the wings in the first image were removed to cause debasement so I am guessing they may symbolize the feelings of the Greece dominance that they were invincible. 88 | Why do some pastors disobey Jesus? | Matt 19:9 | glory777 | 19090
anjao- God instituted the joining of two persons, male and female with the intentions that they never be separated. Malachi states God hates divorce. At the time there were two groups of thought on the subject of divorce. One school of thought held that divorce could take place for any reason. Jesus stated which reason was an acceptable reason, not that if a person (husband or wife)is caught in infidelity that they should automatically divorce. If the marriage can be maintained, if forgiveness and a true state of repentance can be achieved, the marriage should be continued. Debbie |

90 | Was Moses and Aaron's request reasonable | Exodus | glory777 | 18954
ronscarpet- I think there might have been some duplicity in the request. First, if they were away under the pretext of holding a festival, it would have bought them some time. Secondly, Egypt had different gods that were worshipped and the way they were worshipped were vastly different then the way the Jews worshipped the Lord. Pharoah was considered a god to the Egyptians and to worship Jehovah would have been an affront to the Egyptians. This is just conjecture and I may be wrong, but it could be possible. I do know that the Egyptians didn't think much of sheep (Joseph told his brothers to tell Pharoah that they were cattlemen, remember?) and to see sheep being sacrificed could have caused some problems, even having sheep in the area of the Egyptians could have caused difficulties. 91 | Did the Holy Spirit depart from Christ? | Matt 27:46 | glory777 | 18953
OK Bill- I'm sure I'm going to get slack for this answer, but I think the Holy Spirit did leave and that He did suffer spiritual death. All through scripture, Jesus called God the Father, "Father". It was only when He was on the cross, just before the payment of our sins was made in full that He cried out and called the Father "My God, My God, Why have You forsaken Me?" I really don't know about the Holy Spirit indwelling Jesus throughout His life. It's possible - He had an extraordinary amount of wisdom about the scriptures even at 12, but His Father announced His Sonship at His baptism and the Spirit descended on Him in the form of a dove. Had it been there before and this was only a way to physically show John the baptist? I don't know. Debbie |

93 | Is sex between singles a sin? | 1 Corinthians | glory777 | 18951
JMR- I've read the responses to your question and I am in full agreement. I would only like to make an additional comment. When two people engage in sex, they become "one", soulmates, if you will. There is a bond formed, a part that is left with the partner and the partner leaves with you. This is wonderful in the confines of marriage and just as God planned for it. But outside of marriage it is a way for Satan to get his hooks in you in that area and to make a mockery of what God had planned for something precious. This is also something that he can thrown at you in the form of guilt and pull you a little farther away from God. Unmarried, even with the plans of marriage in the future, sex is still fornication and sin. My advice - admit to God you have sinned, renounce any hold Satan has on you in this area and ask that God's cleansing spirit keep you pure and strong. Then stay out of dark places with your girlfriend, spend a lot of time having others with you and make that commitment of respect and love for each other. God give you wisdom and strength. Debbie |

94 | day of worship ?????/ saturday sabbath | Matt 5:17 | glory777 | 18948
huckle7berry God's nature does not change. However, when Christ came, He fulfilled all the law for us. We do not have to do the dietary thing and worry about being around things that are "unclean". He did it for us. But the only commandment not reapeated is the one about Saturday being the day of rest and worship. Sunday became the day of worship after Jesus was resurrected for various reasons. He was resurrected and appeared to some of His followers on the 1st day of the week. He continued appearing on succeeding Sundays. The Holy Spirit took place on a Sunday so the pattern was formed. Sunday's were known as the Lord's Day (Rev. 1:10). And whether we decide to worship on a Sunday or Saturday is really irrelevant, as long as we have one day of the week to give to the Lord and meet with other believers (Col. 2:16) and Sunday seems to be the favored day for most believers to meet and worship together. 95 | What was the mark on Cain put by God? | Genesis | glory777 | 18782

Dear Sir- I get frustrated with the duplicate posts, also, but there could be worse problems. If there was an economical way to eliminate them it would be wonderful. I think the idea of replying to questions that have been dealt with in the past by a referel (AND YES I WOULD LOVE TO SEE A SPELL CHECK!)to former threads is a good one, but having someone responsible to combine similar threads could cause problems. 98 | How do we know the Bible is the truth? | Bible general Archive 1 | glory777 | 18080
David- There are so many reasons to believe that the bible is true. Prophesy alone can prove the validity of it. Every single prophesy in the bible has proven true - even those written hundreds of years before the events- except for those relating to the end times and have yet to happen. Things that were related in the Old Testament, science and archeology is proving true (go to www.ICR.org to find out more). The New Testament is true relating to the life of Jesus. If it wasn't, there were enough witnesses at the time to refudiate all that His followers said and wrote about Him and the church would have died out. This Book has stood the test of time and witnesses. No other book has changed so many people's lives. No other book has been revered so much that people would be willing to die for the truths that it holds. It is true, my friend. Read and believe. Debbie |

100 | HOW DID THE WOMAN | Matt 15:21 | glory777 | 17133
dltlshines- I think because she pressed in. First she called out to Him - she a Gentile and He a Jew who was not supposed to associate with Gentiles. Even when He told her His mission was for the Jew first, she still did not give up but asked for whatever He could provide, not knowing that He would provide everything. Debbie |
