1 | Who determines our destiny? | NT general Archive 1 | GeneZ | 98671
Email suppresses truth which is to be made known to all... on public display. There seems to be a strong desire to hide what I might have to say from certain folks here... Am I quickly picking up on a trend manifested here? I think I do not like this place... That is, unless I am reading things so far, wrongly. When presenting Bible doctrine this sort of thing can be expected at times. I guess my hopes about this forum is quickly diminishing. What I have to say is to be presented OPENLY... before all. All are to be shown and are to decide for themselves... To the body of Christ. If I were looking for private Emailings I would have not come to a Forum. I may be wrong, but I sense a fear in this place. Why is that? Those growing in grace and truth have nothing to fear... But, they do need to be aware of suppression of truth. What I have sustains me. It does not depend on others having to hear what I have to say. In other words... It's not my loss if someone refuses to hear me out. I share it in hopes of furthering the details and insight. But, that can not happen when there is fear of others to hear in an open arena. Might just be moving on... Gene |

Gene Do a search and see for yourself. Debates on this subject were anything but fruitful. Many were hurt and left the forum when the debaters started attacking each other out of frustration. We lost many very knowledgeable people that had been very productive resources for the forum. This forum because it is un-moderated has a tendency to get out of hand very quickly and is simply the wrong vehicle to try to host a debate. Please do some searches and see the results of the last these debates. No one is trying to suppress your thoughts or ideas. Your not being persecuted your are just being asked to use a vehicle better suited than the Bible Study forum to discuss this issue. I'm sorry if I gave you the idea your thoughts, ideas, input and participation wasn't wanted or needed here. Each member of the forum is vital and very much needed to the success of the this forum. 3 | Who determines our destiny? | NT general Archive 1 | John Reformed | 98717
Dear EdB, The problem is not the subject matter, but, people. I have noticed that some controversial topics (Baptism; The trinity, eternal security, to name just a few) are discussed almost daily on this forum without complaint. This being the case, why should the doctrines of grace (TULIP) which deal with the essentials of knowing God be quenched in the name of peace? Many times I have been engaged in polite arguement with another member over one of these doctrines, only to find myself being assailed by one or another of two long time users. I will not mention names because I wish to avoid personal rancour. You already know of whom I am speaking. These men have appointed themselves doctrinal "watchdogs", barking at all references to the aforementioned doctrines that appear on the forum. Well...I, for one, have decided to ignore them; I am obliged to present and to defend what I believe is the gospel truth. 2 Tim 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. At the same time I do not consider myself wise or learned. My prayer is that my heart and mind be open to correction. John Reformed |

4 | Who determines our destiny? | NT general Archive 1 | EdB | 98743
John I think there are three problems with discussing this. First men including Calvin or Arminiaus have tried to explain the miracle of salvation that God has not fully revealed and therefore can not be truly understood by man. Men trying to explain the mechanics (hate that word) salvation is like trying to explain the trinity in human terms utterly impossible. Therefore the discussion really becomes an argument over the doctrine of men. Secondly both the doctrine of Calvin and Arminiaus are so repugnant to true Christianity and the rest of scripture that most who have come to the understanding that God has not revealed His mysteries to us can not bear to be exposed to it. Three the discussion/debate/argument/tirade/differences, you pick an adjective, has been going on for 500 years without any sign of settlement, agreement or compromise for either side. The fact is, men have lost their lives over these issues and you think we can discuss them in a rational civil manner on this un-moderated forum? Is not that assertion in itself prideful? EdB |
