Subject: Who determines our destiny? |
Bible Note: figgy - If debates you enjoy and if you are speaking particularly of Calvinism/Arminianism debates, then by all means enjoy yourself to the uttermost by using Search and entering the word Calvinism. You weren't around during the Calvinism/Arminianism Wars, but we old-timers were, and we don't wish to see more wars of this magnitude on this forum. Messy and disruptive they were and didn't solve a thing. Both sides claimed victory but nobody really won and the forum itself was the loser. .... Besides, it's more fun and as spiritually edifying to watch a good game of baseball. Unlike the debates, in baseball we know that one side will win. In the C/A debates we know in advance that neither side will win, though both may claim victory. What we do know is that sparks will fly, feelings will be hurt, and that the wall that divides the two camps will be raised even higher. Meanwhile the secular world looks on in amazement at the spectacle, wondering how professed followers of Christ and Christianity could war with each other so vigorously and viciously. And the baby Christian is equally dismayed. Coming to the StudyBibleForum for spiritual nourishment so vital to his growth, he finds, and doubtlessly is perplexed to find, so great a schism in the body of Christ. --Hank |
