1 | One born of God cannot sin? | 1 John 3:9 | EdB | 144926
CDBJ I can go with the chromosomes theory. However I think the fact that it is mentioned in scripture that as a baby in womb John the Baptist reacted to Mary's voice casts severe doubt on Dr Thieme's theory of when a fetus becomes a baby. I can see no reason to mention the Baby's reaction in the womb unless God wanted to make a point. I believe that point was and is that the "Baby" in the womb is spiritually aware. How does Dr. Thieme Jr. feel about abortion? Since the fetus is just a souless mass of cells does he feel it is okay to kill the fetus? Boy can I see this playing into abortionist hands. I think that is very scarey doctrine. As you said we can take it or leave it. In this case I will LEAVE it. :-0 EdB |

Ed ::: You are perfectly right in having concerns about what effect this fetal theory may have on the abortion issue. I don't know Dr. Thieme and I don't know his views on abortion, but this much I do know. The church of which I used to be a member for 25 years hired two new pastors, both of whom held this very same view and both of whom were staunch pro-choice advocates. This and other non-biblical views promulgated from the pulpit by these two liberal pastors split the church. My wife and I were two among many who went elsewhere. The two pastors are still there, but the church is struggling to keep its bills paid and its doors open. This theory that the fetus does not achieve personhood until it has breathed air outside the mother's womb is not corroborated by Scripture. It's a neat non-truth that sounds plausible enough to give pro-choicers an excuse to do what they have made up their minds to do anyway. But it falls as flat as the theory that gays are born that way because of a defective gene. There is neither scientific nor scriptural support for either theory. They should be tossed in the junk heap where all garbage belongs. While we're at it, let's toss the theory of evolution in the same junk heap! --Hank

Hank I will never forget sitting in a meeting of clergy sponsored by the Crisis Pregnancy Center and hearing for the first time a 'minister' of God say he didn't have a problem with abortion. I was shocked speechless. Happily there were true men of God present in short order this man properly chastised. I don’t think his opinion was changed but I know he learned to keep his trash in the trash. I think there are still pastors calling this man’s name in hopes he will get saved. I just could not believe any serious student of scripture could say such a thing. My eyes were opened then and since I have heard far crazier things coming from the pulpits of American. To me is all comes down to idols. Scripture tells us we are formed in God’s image. If we can reform our image of man we also reform our image of God, thus creating a God of the created rather than a God of Creation. It is no longer a problem, since God created us in this image it must be okay. God no longer is the God of light and life but becomes the God of darkness and of death. However to be politically correct we don’t call it darkness or death we call it enlightenment and life that leads to doing whatever feels right. Come quickly Lord Jesus! EdB |
