1 | One born of God cannot sin? | 1 John 3:9 | M. J. Head | 144719 | ||
Hello CDBJ, Sorry for the long delay, I had other priorities. It is a difficult subject to get ones arms around. I referred the 2 souls for want of a better explanation for the source of sin in a believers life. To me it is very important to understand what that source is. I cannot accept the interpretation of many commentators that 1 John 1:9 and 5:18 are referring to a continueing sin in that which is born of God. The "seed" is from God. If it is even capable of sin then we have a huge problem on our hands! We would be saying that new creature, that new man, being born of God, is cabable of sin, and thus christ died in vain!! Because He was manifested to take away our sins, in Him is no sin, etc, we make God the source of sin in the believers life, if indeed that sin has its source in the new nature that is born of God. What do you think? Thank you, M. J. Head |

Greetings MJH, It was explained to me, by someone a lot smarter then I am that Adam passed on the old sin nature through procreation of the body. The 23 chromosomes of the males contribution, at conception, infects the cells structure, thus passing on the OSN, or old sin nature. We all contain 46 chromosomes but only 23 are used from each of the parents. The female, through meioses and polar body throws of her 23 contaminated chromosomes leaving 23 without the OSN. The male inseminates the female with his 23 chromosomes containing the OSN and the fetus starts with an OSN. Psalm 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. This would also prove out how Jesus was born “without” an old sin nature because Mary was a virgin and conception was by the Holy Spirit. Man procreates and biological life starts in the womb; at the instance of physical life, when the child becomes independent of the mother, the instant it breaths on its own, God imparts soul life or, neshamah, in the Hebrew, and the fetus becomes a baby with a living soul. I know I’ll catch a lot of flack for this and all I can tell you is that‘s what I was taught years ago by my pastor R. B. Thieme Jr. He and a Dr. Jamieson came up with it and it all works out with Scripture and I believe it. If anyone asks me to prove it, I can’t, just take it or leave it. There is a web site, http://www.berachah.org/ Have a great day, CDBJ |

Hello CDBJ, I've heard of the theory of imparting the soul at birth. I don't think it makes any sense in light of Scripture. But that's another thread. :-) Steve |
