1 | Heb6:4-6 Loosing salvation or what? | Heb 6:4 | Beja | 207534 | ||
This question regards Heb 6:4-6. My question is this: could somebody who believes that you can not loose your salvation tell me how you understand this verse? In an attempt to save waisted time let me say a few things. First, I believe in the eternal security of the believer therefore there is no need to convince me of that doctrine. I'm looking how this verse is compatable with that doctrine. Second, I do not find the arguement that I have heard some people say, that this verse is talking about hypothetically "if we could loose our salvation." That explination does not fit within the context at all in my opinion. So if you do think that really is the explination, you need to argue it in good detail and show exactly how this is Paul's line of reasoning. Third, I do feel I might have my own answer, but it relies on stating that the translators of the NASB have not chosen the best translation of a particular participle within this passage. Not in definition but in terms of syntax. However, I'm not entirely comfortable with that answer so I am seeking what other answer there "might" be. Thank you in advance for your thoughts. |

Gal. 5:1-8 This is talking about going back to follow the LAW. Thereby falling from Grace, and Faith in Christ. For where the Law is, is the knowledge of sin. It seems to me that anyone that would try to live there lives by the Law, would be acting out of Pride, feeling they could be better Christians by doing so. 2 Pet 2:20,22 But the context goes back to Vs. 6-19 they are examples of the entanglement. This is talking about going back into the things of the world, things we have forsaken, obtained forgiveness for. I think this example would fall under the category of Apostate. Either example shows a walking away from the life we have been called to, a life in the spirit. If we walk in the spirit, we will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. John 10:28,29 Jesus says that no one can pluck them out, but it doesn't say we cant walk away. What about Judas? In Him Imm |

Imm, Excellent point! John 10:28-29 in fact does not say as you pointed out "it doesn't say we cant walk away." And a follow up point that needs to be made is that John 10:28-29 does not say we can or do either! Verse 28 however does clearly teach that He gave them eternal life and they shall never perish. It doesn't get any clearer then that! Steve |
