1 | Good-bye, NIV | 2 Tim 3:16 | Reformer Joe | 32895 | ||
God is a spirit, but he clearly reveals Himself in Scripture as being a "He." Jesus the Son spoke of Him as the Father, and I think that Christ of all people would be an authority in these matters, don't you? Men and women who think of the female gender as the B team do not need a "better" Bible, but rather a better understanding of the Bible they already have. --Joe! |

Hello, Joe! A quick search of the TNIV shows that God retains his title Father, so this is something of a non sequitur. Don't be misled by the oft-cited article on baptistpress.com. When the headline refers to the TNIV as a "revision" not a "translation", their position is pretty clear. Despite their claims, the TNIV is not gender-neutral - as the above example shows.
