1 | KJV vs "New Age Bible Versions"? | 2 Tim 3:16 | DarcyA | 99018 | ||
Ed, This might sound strange, but I find people who have the wrong belief in something in the bible is the most reliable sorse for me to find out the Truth, it gets you thinking and digging into the word. I think you nailed it on the head with this statement. "We don't want to be taught then why do we think we should teach others." The main problem I have with Schooling are these points. 1) Most churches will not Ordain anyone unless they spend thousands of Dollars in Education from a School of their chosing and courses. 2) People who spend years in Seminary (for the most part) End up being closed minded or prideful and will not listen to any teaching that goes against any false belief he may have especally the truth is given to him by a layman. It causes two problems 1 is pride the other is An unteachable will lead others astray hince some of the Cults out there today was started by an educated in the bible field men/woman. I have a very good learning circle around me. So I am very teachable. But I am also very careful in what I am being tought as well. If there is one small problem in what they are saying no matter how mute it seems to be I will always bring it up and work from there. You cannot do that at a college. I also don't mind being rebuked on a false belief I may have. As long as I am shown where I am wrong and why I am wrong and what is the correct thing. 2 out of those 3 will teach me. Another problem with colleges is if you know some belief is a little off on their part And then the exam or test comes up do you lie on the paper and tell them what they want to hear or do you mention the truth and fail? |

Greetings DarcyA! You wrote: "Another problem with colleges is if you know some belief is a little off on their part And then the exam or test comes up do you lie on the paper and tell them what they want to hear or do you mention the truth and fail?" I can honestly say that this was not the case at the college I attended. I took quite a few philosophy courses from a very well know Christian philosopher, with whom I strongly disagreed on many issues - publically. Yet, he never once gave me a bad grade as long as I defended my position. My other classes were much the same way. Yes, there were some classes where there was certain material that simply needed to be memorized. But, in all of my classes, the primary goal was to teach people how to think for themselves. In fact, most of our tests were essay tests for that very reason. I can't speak for other schools, but never once did I have to compromise my beliefs for a grade. :-) p.s. - In my experience, those without higher education are just as unteachable as those with it! ;-) Just read through this forum for examples. :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
